Offering Comments
So, I made another boneheaded mistake yesterday, but at this point, who's counting? Ha ha
Although I like the pay-it-forward aspect of WA and the offering on comments on the sites of other members, I haven't really taken advantage of it. My main issue was that I've heard of people losing their commenting rights when their comments were refused. The one comment I did offer, actually, was refused, so it made me view commenting as some sort of tricky proposition that could see me being penalized if not done correctly.
Yesterday, in addition to working on my site (which presented its own issues...), I decided I would finally get out there and offer some comments. I visited several pages and left comments on all of them. I checked today to see if they had been approved or refused and realised my error-- I had commented directly on the page instead of using the SiteComments platform. So none of the comments I posted will earn me credits to ask for comments of my own.
D'oh!
Well, they say we learn best from mistakes. I must be a very efficient learner if that's true. At least I'm not likely to do the same thing twice. It's not a huge deal-- I'm still happy to have read everything I did and to have commented-- and now I get to go check out some more sites and leave comments properly.

One thing to be aware of Craig there are two separate comment systems, one is for you to look at and comment on the whole site, the other is just for comments on a single page/blog.
I made the mistake of commenting on the whole site plus advised of many typo's that I came across......that is not what you are requested to do when commenting on a page! Yes, it was rejected so had to find other sites so I could put my own one in.
Yes, well I know that there is "Feedback" and there are "Comments." And I know that people seem to get irritated if you give feedback in place of a comment.
I suppose I can understand being annoyed if someone spends credits to get comments and they don't get what they are actually requesting.
That is one of the reasons I have been suggesting to new members to use the Site Comments and Feedback areas rather than posting here. You do not know if your comment is accepted until that individual actually replies, plus you do not you do not earn any credits.

I have been doing what you have done as a kind of pay it forward type of action. Sort of like a secret santa per se. To other members sites. Believe it or not, some have actually return the favor by commenting back to my site. How cool is that. I never expect anything in return , just extending a kind gesture. Maybe you will receive some comments back.
Well, if it makes you feel any better I did the same exact thing this morning with my first review. I thought it was a nice option and I decided to try it today. You may want to send that member an email/private message and tell them you commented on their page. Ask them if they would return the favor.
That would be a win/win situation.
I considered that. I am not sure that I would be able to find them all again. I supposed I could go through my browser's history from yesterday...
Best wishes either way. If you can't find, it might be simplest to view it as lesson learned and just keep going forward. You've helped the others regardless. That is always a good thing.
Live and learn. Trust me. You're not alone. I've made some beauties myself. Best thing to do is just move on.
It makes me laugh more than anything. I am glad to have left other people comments, but I wish it had had the added bonus of earning me credits to get my own. Oh well. Such is life. :)
