JFF: Proof Positive, or My Continuing Adventures with the Dude
I wasn't planning on posting a second time today, but it was an odd day, so I figure breaking habits might be somewhat in line with that.
Some background: I've been job hunting for a while (about a year) and having some difficulty with it. Being a believer in the Law of Attraction, I have been telling myself every day "I am accepting a great job, doing something I love and making a great salary." My calm assurance that this would work was beginning to falter, because I was seeing no results, so on Friday I had a little one-on-one with the Dude (that's my name for the Universe. There's a story there, but it's not important now.)
"Look Dude," I said speaking rather emphatically, "I appreciate all that you have done for me, and all that you continue to do, but I need you to step up your game. I need a job. Now. Not in a month, not in a few weeks. Now. I need you to send something my way.
So, that was Friday.
As I posted this morning (Feeling Optimistic), I had someone offer me some work writing content for him online. It was especially cool, since it came by surprise and he asked "are you familiar with SEO?" making me feel even more justified in my time spent at WA, even before my own site has become successful (which is my next big goal).
That would have been great by itself-- in fact it was-- but then the rest of the day blew me away.
A couple of hours later, someone called to arrange for an interview. This was a company that had done a phone interview with me, but then never contacted me again. I figured I was out of the running and forgot about the job, but they want another interview. Ok, cool, thanks, Dude.
Later, I received an email from another company, requesting an interview. This was a company I couldn't even remember applying to, but ok. Sure. Great! Two interviews. I have to get one of the jobs, I thought, and said another quick thank you to the Dude. But he wasn't done with me yet.
As I was writing a response to this email, I received a phone call. Would I, by any chance, be available for an interview?
What? Yes! Absolutely. I took down the details, laughed and said "Dude, you're messing with me now." I then finished the reply to the email and sent it. As I did, I received another email, with... a request for an interview.
So... that's four interviews that I have tomorrow, on top of the online work I was given...
Don't tell me that positive thinking doesn't work, or that the Law of Attraction isn't real. I'm not going to believe you. Likewise, don't try to tell me that the Dude has no sense of humour.
Wishing you all the same upbeat positive feeling that I am having right now.

That is so great! You have proven all we have to do is ask with belief! Don't forget to ask the Dude for good results from the interviews...he obviously listens to you! Be the best you and you'll walk away with a job. You got it!

There is one that I am pretty optimistic about. The others I don't really know. I'm expecting to come away with something though. I mean, really, a year is long enough. Ha ha
I was starting to think of it as a one-sided relationship. Ha ha!
It's crazy how things seem to go from one extreme to the other...
I feel as though I haven't seen much from you lately, though maybe that's just my perception... I hope you are doing well!
