Why a News category and Ads go hand-in-hand
I recently wrote a blog here about improving your rankings. This involved adding a News category to your site and publishing News articles on a regular basis.

Without repeating myself it's a good way to improve your rankings but it also goes hand-in-hand with running Ad campaigns.
This is because your News articles are based on Google Alerts which are topical. So, it's a double-bubble scenario. If you write a great topical post that people are really interested in then you should also think about turning that into a Ad campaign.
Just about all my News articles are current and even controversial (which helps) so I find myself running FB campaigns a lot now.
I am seeing some success in sales so long may it continue! Black Friday approaching so I have taken advantage of BF deals to try and boost sales even more.

I have a News tab on my Main Menu, and I do need to publish more frequently. Part of my problem is that I'm all into this "write thorough, detailed, 2-3K word posts..." that it really slows me down.
The evidence is there to support these criteria, but what about News posts after all? I really wonder if an 600 - 800 word "News" article in my "News" category would be better if I could indeed use this as a method of publishing one more post per week.
My thinking here is that I've found it much easier and much faster to write a news article. This is encouraging... any feedback or downsides to pumping out quality articles, but just not 2 -3K words?
I'm the same Ted, it's tough trying to juggle both but once you get traction through the news articles things start hotting up with your main articles.
I try to write news articles with 800 - 1000 words whenever possible, I also try to add a video and images with plenty of links, internal, external and affiliate links of course.
I find it easier to write news articles too and I always quote the news article I am writing about using . Refer to my link above for more details on that if you need any.
