Proof that an email list does work
Hey all,
I just sent out my latest weekly newsletter and I wanted to check if there was any response to the mail.
So, I opened up Google Analytics Real-Time and after sending the email, within 60 seconds there was 3 visitors to the link in my email.
I think this is something we should definitely do more often. Currently I only send out once a week but if I had a bigger list I think I would do it two or three times per week. I wish I could increase my list.
I just wanted to share this.

I have an inbox full of hundreds of fantastic quality emails that I just can't even open anymore because of the overload, and when they post more than once a week it is crazy heavy on my inbox - all these were good a few years back but not these days, too many people at it. I prefer when people contact me less often with truly exceptional stuff. Familiarity also breeds contempt AND personally I'm fed up being treated like a cash cow, that is low hanging fruit marketing, catch the naive who have not be overexposed yet, but what about the rest of us. That said, I'll still compile a list, but things have to change somehow. I met someone this week with 40,000 unopened emails in one inbox, made my 4000 seem pretty small...!
I try to send out an email weekly and only if it's for a special offer. I'm aware of how annoying it is to get spammed all the time, it also happens to me. In fact, sometimes I wonder where they get my email address from.
Hi Craig,
I have learned through a webinar the other day, that most (if not all of them) Internet entrepreneurs that make decent money have a huge email list. They say that the best way to get someone's email is to offer something for free in return: they talked about "lead magnets" like e-books, whitepapers, webinars, etc. and how they create their email list with this. This is all done through a landing page and we've all seen how these work. Anik Signal calls it "the circle of profit", and he's got the right idea when it comes to email marketing...
Statistically speaking, emails have HUGE traffic compared to any other means of internet communication. The latest figures say that there are something like 205 billion emails sent each day! That is 2.4 million emails every second!!! So yes, I do believe that the best way to increase traffic and revenue to our websites is with a decent email list!
Mine is not big, but hey, we all have to start somewhere right?
My list is not big either Denis but I am trying to work on that. I am now doing a free prize draw each month. Last month I gave away an Android TV box and this month it will be a 2 year VPN subscription. Even this doesn't seem to be tempting enough people to sign up.
I'm starting to think the curiosity of the information gap may be even more successful than giving away freebies.
Thanks Craig. Building an email list is part of my long term strategy with my site.
So many things to do and implement, unfortunately we can only work on one thing at a time :)
I am building a list of things to do, and slowly crossing items off it, but it just keeps growing......
Congrats, good to know they work. I have been trying a few different approaches and need some advice. If you don't mind me asking, what are you using to get subscribers?
I've started adding an opt-in form at the end of each post and it's slowly working. You can see what I mean on the image.
Yes, it would be great to increase my list too, but I don't believe in paying for a list.
