Optimum daily traffic for earning good money

I'd like to get some opinions here.

What do you think is the optimum daily traffic for earning a full time income on your website?

I am going to say 1000 visitors / day. I think even with a conversion rate of 5% that would be enough to earn good money. That would be 50 sales per day and even on a site like Amazon that would probably be good enough.

I know most people here are promoting WA so it's kinda different.

I am still hovering around 250 / day so I have a long way to go but maybe in another 6 months I can reach my target.

Thoughts?

Would you be happy with 1000 / day traffic?

Of course, but I'm not Tom Clancy.

That would be amazing. I'm working just to get 100 a day consistently.

Heck yeah I'd be happy with 1000/day.

1000/day would be Awesome !

Well, I'm still working on this, but in this case, crack on.

Best wishes for those numbers...I know you will make it!

Thanks Arthur I'm determined.

Hi there Craig
I agree with and you are heading for those numbers
I would be happy with 100 a day for now
I know it will happen down the line someday
Cheers.....PB

Thanks Phil. Keep going mate.

Congrats Craig

Thanks Lisa

I can hardly conceive of 1000 visitors per day at the moment. My first step will be consistently getting 10 per day.

We all have to start at the beginning Craig. But do you think 1000 would be enough for good earnings?

I would say it all depends on the niche, the average price of products/ value of sale, commission... and your definition of "good earnings." In my case, yes, it would be good.

The first affiliate program I joined offers 5% commission and states that the average purchase is about $75.
1000 visitors @ 5% sales= 50 sales/ day.
50 sales x $75 average= $3,750
5% of $3,750= $187.50
$187.50 x 30= $5,625

While some people would not consider that to be great, I would be very happy with it given that I would be doing something I enjoy, as opposed to most of the jobs I have had which I didn't particularly love, and the fact that this would be almost double what I earn now.

That said, I can't imagine getting 1,000 visitors per day (I am averaging about 2), and if I did, I can't imagine that equaling 50 sales. But maybe I am being unnecessarily negative.

5% commission is genius. My Amazon commission is 1% only. However, I do get higher commission on my IPTV and VPN affiliations. $5,625 would be fantastic mate.

Craig, how realistic do you believe this is to attain? As you say, Amazon a very popular one pays only 1%,

I would think another platform that pays 5% would be much less popular, therefore harder to achieve sales with. That would be the main reason they need to incentivize folks with 5% commission.

I am new to affiliate marketing so forgive me if I am not speaking from knowledge, but his seems like common sense to me.

Craig - Great detailed breakdown forecast of potential earnings from average sales. You make it very easy for a layman (like myself) to visualize the numbers it will take and what might be expected to earn a full-time income in AM.

But truly how realistic is this scenario?
Btw, I would be happy with this too.

HI Kaju, I think it's attainable but I don't think it will be easy. I've breached 300 / day so if I can scale it up to double that I can triple it with more hard work.

There are people here at WA getting more than 1000 / day so it can be done. In fact, I honestly believe I can do it but maybe around the 18 months mark. That is when website get full traction. I'm currently only 7 months old.

Re the commission rates, it's weighing up the differences. To be honest, I am mixing it up a bit with Amazon and other EStores that have higher commission rates plus I am also diversifying with other affiliations, namely IPTV and VPN subscriptions so not solely relying on EStores for sales.

I'd be curious to see your website / niche, did you do it in Word Press? What do you feel is most determinant factor that is driving traffic to your site? And what do you feel is most responsible for attaining conversions?

I'm very curious, since I may have to re-do my site over since it is experiencing problems (its currently a Wix site).

If you'd like to hear more details about this, please read my blog post

Hi Kaju, it was all built in WP here at WA. I just followed the training here and implemented it. However, I had previous experience with WP and SEO with another system so I had some knowledge already.

Biggest factor without a doubt is page 1 rankings on Google. 95% of the time I go for the low hanging fruit with less competition and lower traffic.

Conversions? Hmmmm....I think writing comprehensive reviews definitely helps and if there is a demand for the product. For example, when I discovered about paid IPTV subscriptions it was the catalyst behind my website. I knew there was a demand for it.

Great point on researching products there is a demand for i.e. IPTV. I've been trying to improve my SEO since joining using "low hanging fruit" keywords, unfortunately I have found in my niche even the most search for low competition keywords are too competitive. May I PM you about this?

Looking forward to check out your site, thanks Craig!

Sure PM me whenever mate. Absolutely no problem there.

Thanks mate!

The highest commission I have seen was about 15%, but that was not a program related to my niche. I was just browsing and came across it. Kyle says commission goes "MUCH higher" but I haven't seen that firsthand.

1% is low, though. Even within Amazon, I believe they go higher, depending on the product. If believe the beauty products go up to 7%

I would say that makes sense. Amazon does need to entice anyone to sell for them because everyone already knows them and everyone wants to be affiliated. A smaller company will pay you more to help them get the sales that they are lacking.

I have seen people here mention that they get 50% or even more, which seems crazy... Having worked retail for many years, though, I know that companies will occasionally sell at a loss to attract customers, so I suppose it's possible.

Essentially you then need to find a smaller upstart company in a small niche that has a great product that has up and coming demand. Those are the companies likely to pay 15-20% commissions.

I am sure this can be a difficult proposition. But they are definitely out there.

I really don't know....

For myself, the thought of 1,000 visitors per day is hard to believe. At the moment, I get maybe 2 per day, with the highest ever being about 28. Yesterday, for the first time in a couple of weeks, I had zero (which ticked me off).

However, there are more than 3 billion people online. If 1/ 100 of 1% is interested in your niche, you still have plenty of potential customers-- you just need to attract them.

In terms of conversion, 5% sounds really low, but I suppose that could be accurate. In terms of the average sale, I will trust the site that I am affiliated with when they say $75. Much of what they carry is in the $20- $25 range, so that would be about 3 items per customer. Seems possible.

So I think what I mentioned in my other post seems possible, maybe even likely. Now, imagine that you make those numbers. Many of us would be willing to go full time at that point. That might give you time to create a second niche...

As an actual example, though, Jay (who definitely knows what he's doing) has his football snack helmet site which I believe they said is making $1,000 per months right now, but I don't know how old that site is. I think it's still developing, and it's a very tight niche...How many people do you think buy snack helmets vs the number of people interested in your niche?

I would be ecstatic with 1000 visitors a day.

Do you think 1000 is enough Tom?

Enough to generate an income, yes. All told, no. Great start though.
