I signed up about 4 months ago but let my subscription run out. I have just re-subscribed but cant find the website I started to create.

This is to discuss with WA owners. They are not supposed to preserve you site forever, but you might be lucky. I think I have seen some discussion about this and most likely they keep it in case people get back.

If you leave WA, your website here will be deleted, you can however transfer your content to another host before you leave or make a backup of it yourself.

however, it wasn't my intention to leave. I worked hard on my website and i feel a little cheated at the stoic way in which the whole process here works.
It's a shame that I'll have to do everything again from scratch
