Educate Yourself

It is the greatest gift you can give yourself or to another. It is the burning, lifelong desire to LEARN each and every day of your life! There is nothing else I have ever experienced or learned that even comes close to this driving curiousity to soak up all that living and life can teach you. You don't need a school and/or textbooks to give you a great education. All you really need is the desire and will to let life teach you all it can. For most of us, as children we couldn't wait to learn all we could about almost anything. Each day seem to offer us an incredible number of ways to have fun and learn at the same time.

As adullts, unfortunately, far too many individuals have lost their childhood desire and will to learn. The eagerness, curiosity, and excitement we approached each day with fades and then disappears. This is a tragedy you don't have to let happen to you. Life and life experiences we all have will always be the greatest teachers.

In the rest of this post, I will examine and share with you some of the best sources of knowledge and learning anybody can access for FREE. You absolutely don't have to spend a great deal of money and go through too much effort to take advantage of some of the greatest resources mankind has ever had access to. Think about that for a couple of minutes - not seconds - before you look at the sources I share.

As with almost everything in life, there is nobody who can force you to accept and act on the responsibility only you have for your life. Not your parents, children, or even teachers! You CAN learn all you can, just like a child, for all the rest of the days in your life. You CAN learn again to appreciate and let your life be enriched by endless fountains of knowledge. I know you can do it, because I have for over 70 years.

Time to go on our little journey.

LIBRARIES (School and Public)

Almost every place in the world - not matter how small or large - has a library or libraries in it. Wherever you live, do you realize that you have free access to one of the greatest treasures of knowledge and learning? Do you think my statement is an exaggeration?

Let me put it another way. I am sitting in a local community college's library where I live. I don't own a computer, but that's all right and I don't have to worry! Why? Even though I am not currently a student at the school, they still allow me to use their desktop computer as a guest. I can sit all day long on the computer and as long as it doesn't get too busy, won't have to pay them one dollar or dime for using their computer.

This benefit is only the beginning of what I can access for free if I choose to. As the case with public libraries, I can read books, magazines, and journals for no cost. At this library, once I am a student, I can even borrow a laptop and hotspot to take home. There are even items like cookware, yard tools, and sports equipment I can borrow for free!

Am I getting across? You would easily spend hundreds or (many) thousands of dollars to be able to borrow and/or use all of these resources if libraries didn't exist for the public and students.

One last thing to mention. Since I can use the library's computers for free, I have access to the Internet without having to buy anything in a cafe or store. Let's cover that infinite rersource and treasure next.

INTERNET (Worldwide!!)

Trust me when I say that neither you, I, or anybody else in the world can probably even begin to grasp how much is available online for any person who wants to learn. Even this statement is insane or ridiculous in a way. As I already covered, the internet is a virual unlimited source of knowledge and anything anybody could possibly want to learn.

Consider this. What are there billions of on the iInternet? Videos, films, articles, blogs, podcasts, lessons, courses, music/songs, and I am sure things neither you nor I can even imagine. Enough for many, many lifetimes. All available for FREE. How can it possibly get any better than this?

Even if you don't have a computer, tablet, or cell phone, find your local library as soon as you can and use their computer to get on the Internet. See what you might possibly have been missing, right in your own backyard!

All right, let's move on. Now, don't go to the library on on the Internet. Instead, look to people as a wonderful and unlimited source of knowledge you can and should use to learn for free.

PEOPLE (NO exceptions!)

Smart people realize they can learn from virtually anybody. ANY person. From an infant to somebody who is 100 or more years old. Exactly what can you learn from them? Actually, exactly what I will cover last and right after this. LIFE. From their own unique perspective based on their unique background and experience.

Nobody llives long enough, or has the time or energy to learn everything they can or want to in life. Most of us don't even want to do this, any way, and that makes perfect sense.

Let me put this another way. What don't you know? The correct and honest answer is this: infinitely MORE than you'll ever learn and know in your whole lifetime! Therefore, doesn't it make sense to take advantage (not in a dishonest or manipulative way) of other people?

Most mature and wise people, no matter how educated, do not mind sharing what they know and have learned. Just the opposite. They are pleased and even flattered if you try to use or ask them to share what they have learned. Try it sometime and see what I mean.

Remember this key point the next time you are not in a library or on the Internet. As fantastic as both those sources of learning are, they are NOT life and real people!! People are the real ulltimate source of all the knowledge you might ever seek or want to know. And one, next-to-last time, this incredible source of knowledge is usually FREE.

LIFE (There will never be a greater teacher)

The last and greatest resource by far, along with people.

I highly doubt you will be able or want to learn anything when you are dead! NO, I am not kidding when I say this and point it out.

Never be shy or scated to ask another person something. Something that you don't know and want to learn. It IS true that normally the worst thing that can happen is they either say "No" or "I Don't Know." Even if they do, you can still ask them if they know somebody or some way to find out an answer. Nearly all the time, if you are polite and respectful, the person who doesn't know the/an answer, will still try to help you.

Now, how can you or anybody lose gaining a world-class education with these four resources?II think not.

All you have to do is want to learn and get up off your ass(es). Really.
