If I have a .com site, should my landing page be the same name but use a .net?
You can use the .com for a landing page. Unless you want to buy the .net too. Depends a lot on your long term objectives. Personally, I'd stay with the .com
The utiity of having several domain names, as Ms Debbie said, is to prevent anyone else to take it. For example if I buy only mybrand.com, someone else could come and buy the name mybrand.net or mybrand.org or else.
That's why it is often a good idea to buy many domain names, at this moment, a redirection towards the main domain name is simple.
Else, if you must choose one domain name, buy rather the .com one.

No. The landing page should be your home page with your domain, not another domain. Use .com and nothing else that you have not bought.
The .com extension means that you are a company. The original extension application for the .net domains were for internet or network providers. The .org was originally for Non Profit organisations.

I initially thought that we needed to scoop up related names [buying .com .net etc.] but didn't do it because of something Kyle said about not maintaining multiple sites, but it sort of makes sense that someone would do a copycat and skim off your good work!
Exactly. And you don't have to build the extra sites out, just own them so nobody else can.

How about this answer to a great question. You can, but you may not (and should not.) It is far to confusing and FB really ends up connecting them which gets way out of control Trust me on this one. I recommend going the business account or fan page...fan page being my favorite.

I only mentioned the sub-domains because just before I'd read your question, DamianP (here at WA) had just blogged about them. Sounded as though it might help.
Than a Facebook page or group is the way to go. I started a page for my son's football team and it grew to over 600 members without hardly any effort. Facebook is a great tool
David's right about Facebook. You can only have ONE official personal timeline, but you can make as many business pages as you want. You can also turn your personal profile into a business page if you don't want the personal page, but it changes a lot. Search the FB help files for this. And, yes, I know some people have lots of FB accounts, but, if they get caught, they will be deleted and you could have all accounts canceled and banned. You can have multiple Twitter accounts. Pinterest has personal and business accounts. Not sure about Google+.

I know you can have as many accounts on twitter, fb, pinterest as you wish, but I would also like to know how to keep them all separate and in order. I suppose one way would be to sign up with the email from each diferent website, but I would like confirmation from an expert, too.

You can ONLY have ONE Facebook account - but with in that one account you can create many Fan pages - as they used to be called - are not reffered to - as just pages.

I already deleted the 'Hello World'. 2 home pages still there.
To everyone who has joined me in trying to solve the issue of deleting my additional 2 Home Pages on my website: Late on Friday, I found out that my very dear friend had just died of cancer. I had to drop everything & get ready to go to the funeral on Saturday. I'm so sorry I just left you hanging! I'm back & starting to read all your helpful comments. Hopefully, we can get it worked out. Thanks so much to all of you!
Hi Donna, you should not have to delete your site. Is it your own domain, or siterubix? If it is your own domain, you definitely do not want to delete your site.
If you are comfortable with sending me a private message with the login details to your website, I will be glad to log in and see if I can fix your issue. Please explain to me in the pm exactly what you want to achieve.

Hey Jude. Thanks for trying to help with my website issue. As per my above comment, I found out Friday evening that a close friend had passed. I had to hurry & go out of town for the funeral on Saturday, so I had no time to respond. Thanks again!
You have two problems: 1 with your menu and one with you designated home page.
Lets start with getting your home page - getting started to load as your home page.
Go to "Build My Website" and log in to your website. At the dashboard click on Customize. A menu will come up along the left side of your screen. Click on the bottom item "Static Page" In the popup menu choose the second option "static Page" click on the bottom button and you will be presented with a choice for your front page and a choice for your blog. Choose the page you want to be your home page and chose the page you want for your blog.
The menu problem is more of a problem to fix without seeing it. Go to appearance and menus. You need to delete both homes. I think you get rid of them by dragging them out of your menu but Iʻm not sure.
Bill, I did exactly as you directed! It worked! We did it! :) Thanks so much. As mentioned in the above comment, I had someone close to me pass away & that is why I have not responded for a couple of days.
Glad I was able to help. Wasnʻt sure about the two homes. Death of a loved one is always tough. They live on in our memories.

Go to dashboard then appearance then menus
see if there are 2 menus listed on the right. If there are, then go to the 2nd one and click on the upside down triangle in the top right corner
click remove then click save menu at top right side of the page

Hi Susie! I got my problem worked out. I had to disappear for a couple of days; per the above comment, a friend had suddenly passed away.
The pages only show up through Dashboard. On regular pages, I cannot delete either Home page. I can delete all the other pages but 'Home' says it is customized.
I am not familiar with the theme you are using so I am posting it here to see if another WA member might know more.

How did you get the Home page on there? I had to actually put one on my one site. Did it come with your theme? Customized or not, you should be able to get rid of it. I looked at your site and it looks like a page. Any page can be deleted. Did you look under Appearance, Customize, since it says it's customized?
