The Farm

Last night we played at a place called The Farm, which has a huge stage, a large kitchen, and several residences, on a sizable tract of land.

Old Hippie Haven.

Last time we went there, we ended up sitting and listening to other people.

"You're not in the box," the lady in charge said.

So, she took our picture, got our information, and this time around, we were "in the box," and given a time slot to perform.

There were a lot of serene souls from the 60's, some great original music, free food and drinks, and a mellow, peaceful vibe.

We stopped at the Coney Island Drive-In before hand, and got our favorite foot-long hot dogs. (I like mine with yellow mustard and sauerkraut.) I've been a customer of theirs for decades!

Then we headed on out to The Farm.

It was dark by the time we got there, and the first performer was already playing his beginning tune.

We got our equipment out of the car, and sat down to listen and await our turn on the stage.

We ended up playing about 30 minutes to a very appreciative crowd.

Afterwards, Todd stopped to explain to a fan about his "Wish Bass," which someone seems to take a liking to everywhere we play. I must admit, it's an unusual instrument!

I started towards the car to load up some of the equipment. Halfway there, I met three ladies who had just arrived.

"We heard the last part of your set," one of them said. "It was very good!"

I thanked them, and then one of the ladies, in a long, flowing gown, said something of a quite personal nature to me.

I nodded, and then asked her if she were psychic, for what she had said to me was actually quite a personal and accurate statement.

She said, "Yes, I am. How did you know?"

I smiled and said, "Maybe I'm a bit psychic myself."

I conversed with her while I was waiting for my buddy, and found out she was an artist, and had recently suffered a stroke. Only in the past few weeks did she begin to recapture language and her ability to paint.

Todd rejoined me, we said our goodbyes, loaded the rest of our equipment, and headed for home.

We both agreed it was a place we'd like to play again.

Gentle places and gentle people are always a pleasure.

I met some of the founding members of The Farm a few years ago in Thailand. Stayed at our guesthouse. Great guys, still chilled but now tracking their stocks on their iPads over breakfast. They had some hilarious & unbelievable tales of life in San Francisco, Seattle and finally Tennessee as part of a disorganised hippy tribe. They still live around Summertown.

Hi Ian! A pretty good group!

Thanks for sharing Rick! And have a great weekend.

Thanks, Eric-You, too. :)

Thanks for sharing, Rock.

My pleasure, Rog.

Terrific Rick. Have you ever played in a country/western band!

No country bands, Mike, but we do have quite a few country songs-Probably enough for a CD easy.

Sweet!

Thanks, Carol! :)
