Succeed Or Die!
Hernan Cortez (1485-1547) was a Spanish explorer and Conquistador. He was the leader of an expedition that brought about the fall of the mighty Aztec Empire, and resulted in a large part of Mexico coming under the rule of the King of Castile in the 16th Century.
His strategy was simple but brutal, and resulted in his armies winning important battles, even when the odds were stacked against them...
Cortez's philosophy was "Conquer or die!"
Failure was not an option.
Nor was retreat.
Before beginning a major battle, Cortez gave the order to burn all the ships! The troops had no way of returning to their home, and were faced with the scenario of win or die.
My question is this: How badly do you want to succeed?

I want to succeed for sure but I don't want to die trying either :) However, I do extract the inspirational idea here.
Thanks!

Perfect question, Rick. I think it's the one we all have to answer. It goes along with....What are you willing to do to get there.....Burning ships may be a bit extreme but certainly we can work a few more hours.

WHOA!!! I believe I've read about him before, very intense.
It's interesting how quickly we can go into "fight" mode when forced - downsizing, unemployment, illness - but many of us seem unwilling to take those drastic actions to prevent that from even happening.
I found that too many times in my past, I would react rather than take action, which meant that I was putting my fate in someone else's hand. (I'm deliberately using past tense to break that cycle.)
No, no... No way back...We might have a stop or two on a quiet island with some banana trees and monkeys.:)))

Very badly Rick so that I can turn around to my family and say told you so as they have always said that I am wasting my time.
Good blog and I am glad we are not facing that prospect though that if you don't win or succeed you die lol. xxx
The naysayers are such a bother, Cheryl! :)
They most certainly are Rick, makes it harder when you can't share all the good points with your family because they are not interested. xxx
