IF WE COULD JUST GO BACK

If we could just go back (just go back),

If we could just go back (just go back),

If we could just go back (just go back),

If we could just go back (just go back),

If we could just go back to what we had before.

Was a time when less was more,

Girl, we've been so long at war,

If we could just go back (just go back),

If we could just go back (just go back),

If we could just go back to what we had before.

If we could just go back (just go back),

If we could just go back (just go back),

If we could just go back (just go back),

If we could just go back (just go back),

If we could just go back to what we had before.

Was a time I loved you so,

We felt so high, now I feel so low,

If we could just go back (just go back),

If we could just go back (just go back),

If we could just go back to what we had before.

If we could just go back (just go back),

If we could just go back (just go back),

If we could just go back (just go back),

If we could just go back (just go back),

If we could just go back to what we had before.

We loved walkin' in the light a' the moon,

Makin' love in the afternoon,

If we could just go back (just go back),

If we could just go back (just go back),

If we could just go back to what we had before.

If we could just go back (just go back),

If we could just go back (just go back),

If we could just go back (just go back),

If we could just go back (just go back),

If we could just go back to what we had before.

People have gone back to past loves after many years...rekindled high school romances, 30, 40, even 50 years later.

Did it work out?

I don't know.

This song is more about returning to a time when love was new.

Love changes over time. Some say it matures into something even better and stronger.

But, there's something about that special feeling you have when love is new...

I wouldn't want to go back to every new love. Just maybe to the short lived once, to see how it would have developed.
But definitely not today, as I had a fantastic Saturday evening with my wife. :)

You are a lucky man, Eric! :)

Thanks

My pleasure, Marilyn. :)

I remember a song that I heard, "To all the girls I loved before".

A good song, Jimmy.

Yes, I just read the lyrics.

I wonder if we would make the same mistakes if we could just go back to what we were before! Also, if we could do it knowing what we know now! :)

I hope I'd be an improved version of myself, Carol! :)

That would be nice if we could :)

Seriously, I am not sure Time Machine exists. Yes, there were great encounters and great people in the past, like with everybody. But I am here now, in my present state...and where are they?Still, I believe if there was somebody very, very special who we lost, we wouldn't ask such a question but we'd try to find them.
I think it's a cool song...:))

Thank you, Vera. Time changes people...it's hard to go back, except maybe for a brief time. :))

But I don't think it matters, long or short. In relationship, you all the same fully give yourself to another. If not, it's not worth it. Ivan Bunin wrote a short story which is called "Sun Stroke". A man and a woman meet each other. They know it is just for a day. And they still can't resist the love which struck them(Here's the title of the story from) and they live this day. They live it to the full and they don't regret anything.:))

I'm yet to experience the newness of love, as I've not yet been in love. But I know it'll come of its own accord. Must be fantastic!

It's a fantastic feeling, Nada! You'll get there! :)

Great song. It reminded me of Cher's, "If Could Turn Back Time".

I think we all must have those feelings, at least if you are past the age of 40.

There is nothing like love in its infancy. It is intoxicating. The best drug on the planet.

Much like children, it matures and goes through teenage years. I have never managed to get past those nasty times myself, but I have great admiration for those couples who have survived the turbulence.

Re-igniting an old flame is an interesting concept. Would it not be a bit like knowing how the story goes, but being willing to try to re-write it?

Or is it more like re-cycling as a means to save the planet?

Great post for stirring up controversial thoughts.

Thank you, Rick.

Susan

Thank you for your insightful added thoughts, Susan. I've never gone back after a long time, but I've gone back after a short time. I've also "revisited" old passions. Those were pretty cool...comfortable, yet exciting! :)

Your post reminded me of this song.

My wish for you is that some lady will sing this song to you and solidify that step back in time.

I agree...new love is special....but old love is real. It's a miracle if it's with the same person! We are all connected in spirit. Enjoy your weekend. Debbie

Thanks for sharing, Debbie. I suppose there's something to be said for all stages of love! :)

Yesterday's time is forever in memories Rick and it can always be rekindled In spirit with the right someone!

Have you known it to happen, Mike-with lasting results?

Yes life is full of timeless corrections Rick!
