I'd Follow You Anywhere!

-So, you've followed plenty of people, but are not really getting much of a response back, as far as people following you?

What's the problem?

Here are some possible reasons you may not be getting the number of followers you'd like...

1. No profile picture-People like to see what you look like. Puppies and kitties and breathtaking landscapes are nice, but you'll probably increase your followers if people can actually see what you look like.

2. Unprofessional or weird picture-That tipsy photo of you at last year's New Year's Eve party might be one of your favorites, but a simple picture with a friendly smile may be a better way to go.

3. No biography-Tell your readers a little bit about yourself-It will make them feel closer to you, and more likely to want to follow you.

4. Build an active website-Some people just like to know you're serious enough to have a website.

5. Too many followers, not enough followers-If the number of people you're following is way more than those following you, consider unfollowing those who haven't followed you back. Add new followers slowly, trying to keep your ratio of followers/following fairly even.

6. Not interacting with people-This inactivity may cause people to unfollow.

7. Too Promotional-This may turn off potential followers. Offer a variety of interesting posts.

8. Different interests-Not much you can do about this-They just aren't interested in what interests you.

9. Over-reliance on quotes-I like a good quote as much as the next guy, but it may be best to mix it up a little.

10. Keep it current-Post regularly, and you're more likely to attract followers and regular readers.

11. Link social media accounts and emails to your profile-This may attract new followers.

12. Add your profile address to your email signature-If you're like most people, you're an active emailer. This will increase your exposure.

13. Use creative hashtags-Catch somebody's eye with your creativity!

14. Place follow links on blog or website-You'll get a lot of exposure when your site or blog gets ranked more highly.

"I'd follow you anywhere"- sounded like a beginning of a thriller (might be under the influence of "The Green Mile" movie I finished watching)
Then I thought it might be your new romantic song. One never knows where they are with you....
It appeared so peaceful and nice.
Totally agree, especially with points 1 and 9.
I've already written that I want to see a human face, not a dog or a cat. And as for quote posts, I want to see a personality through the quote, the person's attitudes, the thoughts the quote originated in them.
The rest is important, too. Thank you, Rick...:)))

Thank you so much, Vera! :)))

:)))

Rick, you are spot on, thanks for sharing!

Thank you, Carol! :)

Thanks for the post-Rick.

You are welcome, Anandhijohn. :)

Good Morning Rick,

Well, I must confess, I have just started to go the other direction. This means diminishing my network. The other day I started at the beginning with the first people who had followed me. I clicked and most of them were gone or had not been active for a month or more. Seeing that I clicked Unfollow so my network is slimming down. No use to "have" a lot of faces as it is thin air.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

I wouldn't mind getting mine more balanced, Taetske, but it seems like it would take some time I just don't have right now, so I'm not going to worry about it. :)

Thanks ...that was great advise. I need to do a few of these as I have not yet put a 'real' picture on my profile. I'll start with that and go from there!!

Thanks!!!

T

You look pretty real, Tammi! :)

I try to always be real!!!!

I bet you say that to all the girls! (play off your title...leaves it wide open!)... ;-)

Seriously, good advice..all of which I am going to follow and some I did not think about before I am definitely going to follow.

Thanks so much Rick for passing this on!

Only the special ones, Cindy! It was my pleasure. :)

Rick - Excellent advice. Thanks for sharing.

You're welcome, Patrick.

Such good advice, Rick, we can kind of know what we should be doing, it is the do that can be the hardest sometimes.

Actually doing what we know needs to be done can, indeed, be tough, Alexander!

Sage advice!

Thank you!

Susan

My pleasure, Susan! :)

Thanks for sharing, Rick.

It was my pleasure, Rog.
