Feeling alone?

Charley Mendosa shares some ideas to help you deal with it:

1. Talk to people-In person or on-line

2. Go out somewhere by yourself

3. Acknowledge and accept the way you feel-No need for drama

4. Go to a meeting-Try meetup.com

5. Watch a good movie

6. Volunteer-Helping others can do wonders for you

7. Adopt a pet-Studies show pets are good for our mental health

8. Try to figure out why you're feeling lonely

9. Read a book

10. Take a bath-Have a glass of wine

11. Take a trip on a train or plane

12. Dance (Naked!) Do something crazy!

13. Go for a jog-30 minutes will release enough endorphins to elevate your mood

15. Go out for a coffee, or, if you're not a coffee drinker, a hot chocolate

16. Check out the "Joy of Missing Out," by Randi Zuckerberg, Mark Zuckerberg's sister!

17. Make your bed, straighten up your surroundings

18. Look at some old photos-Have a snack and relax

19. Take some pictures

20. Attend an exercise class-Yoga, for example

21. Keep a gratitude journal

22. Watch some Ted Talks to get inspired

23. Take a vacation!

24. Do something new!

25. Do something CRAZY!-No need to get yourself arrested, just do something a little "off the wall"

A LONG WAY FROM HOME

I'm a long way...such a long way...

A long way...such a long way...

A long way from home, in a-state of confusion,

Seek reflection, and I donno why,

I feel so solitary, I could cry...

Feel so solitary, I could cry.

I'm a long way...such a long way...

A long way...such a long way...

A long way from home, contemplatin' a solution,

Need affection, baby, rock-a-bye,

I feel so solitary, I could cry...

Feel so solitary, I could cry.

I'm a long way...such a long way...

A long way...such a long way...

A long way from home, and there's-just illusion,

So low, baby, Oh, so low,

I feel so solitary, I could cry..

Feel so solitary, I could cry.

I'm a long way...such a long way...

A long way...such a long way...

I'm a long way...such a long way.

And remember, there are quite a few thousand people right here, interested in some of the same things you're interested in, and quite willing to talk, help out, or just lend a sympathetic ear.

There's no need to feel alone.

Great post, my friend! :)

Thanks, Mike! :)

Great post attuned to the community Rick . Thank you!

Thanks, Mike!

nice post

Thanks, Karin.

I liked your list of activities, Rick.Would do any of these if I felt lonely. But it's the state almost unfamiliar to me.I may be down, low for some time of course- I am human and stuff happens. But I usually don't abide there for a long time because there are so many interesting things to do, and mainly- there are so many things to remember and laugh at. Laughter is universal means.
A sad song. Sad and beautiful, as always.:)

Thank you, Vera. :)

# 25 Vera ! LOL

Sure, Mike:)

Great post! Thank you for sharing! Love the scenery.

Thanks, Thomas!

I'm always alone, yet never alone. I love it.

Oh, the duality, Deb. :)

: )

O.K., Cos, so now you've become metaphysical in your Blogs...good...I like it...borders on the existential...

I like metaphysical stuff, Arthur!

I can see that...Press On!

Great post

Thank you, Alexandra. :)

Thanks for sharing Rick. Being alone is not always a pleasant past time but there are times when one needs to be alone to reflect. I grew up on a farm and learnt from and early age how to entertain myself with very little to do it with. Your above list covers a wide range of activities that can put it all into perspective and before you know it the depression is gone and creativity kicks in.
Yes, I'm sure many people out there in the world are in the same boat just waiting to meet up with someone to talk to.
Good posting on a very interesting subject Rick.

Take care.

Johan.

Thanks, Johan. I, too, spent a fair amount of time by myself as a kid, and that is great for developing creativity!

Really great post, Rick, a lot of people find being alone difficult, and that last paragraph will be priceless to anyone who is feeling a little lonely. I thoroughly enjoy my alone time, but not so much I don't welcome other people into my space. We are never truly alone, just as we are always alone, bit of an oxymoron, but that's God for you:-))Steph

Thanks for a great insight into a universal condition, Steph! :)
