A Dream I Could Remember!

It seems like I seldom remember my dreams these days, but last night I had a dream I remember clearly...

I was walking in the woods with a friend I called Jen.

This was not anybody I know in my waking life-Though I do know women named Jennifer, none of them were the person in my dream, whom I seemed to know very well.

We were following a small stream, which was getting bigger, and flowing faster, as we explored along beside it.

Soon the stream flowed into a large, tree-lined tunnel, and we continued to follow it through the tunnel.

At the end of the tunnel, the stream emptied gently into a beautiful, blue lake, and Jen, who was slightly ahead of me, stood at the edge of the lake, as if contemplating plunging into its placid waters.

Suddenly, she turned to her right and moved to climb up an embankment.

The area at her feet was cluttered with man-made debris that had washed up on the shore of the lake.

What I saw next, I could not believe, for there, right in front of Jen, was a hooded cobra, in full posture.

"Jen!" I shouted, ""Snake!"

Seeing it for the first time, she screamed, and immediately lost her footing and stumbled, falling right onto the serpent, which immediately sunk its fangs into her defenseless body!

The creature slithered across the ground toward me. I jumped over it, feeling that it would surely bite me, too, but it continued on its path, and soon disappeared into the woods.

I ran to Jen, and bent down to check on her. She was unresponsive. I pulled her to higher ground, then sprinted to a house just across the street.

The next thing I was aware of, I was with a man whom I knew to be Jen's father. We were sitting together, and he was crying.

I knew Jen had died from the snake bite.

I started to say how I felt responsible, somehow. That my shouting had startled her, causing her to fall.

Her father seemed to know what I was going to say, and he shook his head.

"There was nothing you could have done," he said, and he covered his face with his hands and sobbed.

A scary and unusual dream, to be sure. I normally am not prone to nightmare-type dreams, but this one was pretty unnerving.

I don't live in an area with cobras, though Florida (Which I assumed to be the setting of the dream), does have its share of snakes, many of which are poisonous.

I checked with a dream interpreter, and obtained the following information:

"A snake may refer to fertility or masculine power."

Guy power? I don't know.

"A snake can also symbolize healing energy. Are you in need of emotional or physical healing? A snakebite means emotional or physical healing is about to begin. The injection of the venom is like the injection of a shot."

Physical healing? Yeah, I could probably use some of that!

"Snakes can also symbolize wisdom and knowledge (as in the Adam and Eve story). Have you learned something new recently?"

Wisdom and knowledge? Learning something new? Hopefully, we're all on that path, not only here at WA, but throughout our lives!

"It may also represent a fear or temptation, something that could turn into a poisonous situation."

Temptation? Gotta be chocolate!

(I promise the next dream will be a little more cheerful)

The tempter snake in Eden has a male persona. Isn't it interesting that items morph and materialize and settings instantly change in dreams. Many are snippets of places you've seen but not all!

Dreams are mysterious things, Mike!

Ill say pray against any evil that could be associated with it.

Thanks, Irene-I'll never turn down a prayer! :)

It's rare I ever dream. I did dream last night but when I looked it up there was really nothing that matched it closely. I'm glad I didn't dream about snakes. Too scary for me.

It was kind of disturbing, Darlene. :)

Quite scary, Rick. And surely, unusual, with so many details...:))

It was a very vivid dream, Vera! :))

That is scary. Did you see it closer to morning? Were you aware it was a dream?:))

i like the picture!

i always wondered about dreams...why they happen, and why they come out the way they do. sometimes i remember them, especially if they are real vivid.

That's what this one was like, Karin.

Wow! Dreams are fascinating to me. Have you tried Lucid Dreaming? The interpretation is interesting too.

I'd like to try lucid dreaming, but it seems like you have to disturb your sleep pattern somewhat, in order to remember the dreams. :)

True. I only practice it in the early mornings, so my dreams are "natural" through the night.

Dreams are an interesting subject and can be very baffling at times. I know you will have a very happy dream next!

Yes, I will, Keith!

A lot in that dream to ponder on! I would just keep eating the chocolate and watch where you are walking for a while, Sue :)

Sounds like prudent advice, Sue! :)

Dreams are fascinating. Mine very rarely have such a complete story...usually bits and pieces of unrelated events. Debbie

This was an unusual one, Debbie. :)

Life is what a dream.

Many people say life is a dream, Nattawut!
