Ok, I joined WA earlier today with the understanding that it was "free, no credit car required." However, since I've been on the site its all about upgrading to premium member
I thought the same thing when I first joined too. But what I did, was to go through the classes that are for free. While I was doing this I was starting to see that WA isn't like all the other classes I signed up for. Here you actually get substance and you hopefully you will see the value in becoming premium. But if not you got some awesome training in the mean time. But I can tell you this is well worth it.

You can stay Starter indefinitely and you can keep your 2 sites on the http://siterubix.com domain as well.
Live Chat is a Premium feature. You get it for 7 days as a bonus to allow you to chat with other members and so on.
You're under no obligation to go premium. I'm sure you can agree that, as a business, they can't just give you access to all the bells and whistles, at no cost. The bells and whistles are of great benefit but you're not required to take advantage of them.
In the end, it's up to you. If premium isn't for you, great. If it is, that's great too.
Thank. My point here was why the big push up front? Is it because you can’t make money just using the starter pack? As I stated, im not opposed to upgrading just want to see if the system works first.
I totally understand where you're coming from. I think the push is an effort to make "the sale" while you're excited and plowing through the information. I don't fault them for that, it's just good business.
That said, take as long as you'd like. There are people here that never go Premium and they still use the platform and have sites that make money. Premium makes it easier and gives you more but it's not required.
I happened to go premium on day 3 and annual a couple months later. I've been here a little over a year and don't plan on going anywhere any time soon.
For now, stay Starter and soak up what you can while applying what you learn.

Firstly welcome to WA.
Building any business costs money and fortunately Wealthy Affiliate charge a very minimal fee monthly for premium members.
You could stay as a free member go through the 1st 10 lessons, build 2 websites if you choose to however for anyone serious about growing a BUSINESS, every business costs money.
Wealthy Affiliate is the cheapest platform on the Internet giving premium members absolutely everything you could ever need to become successful.
Also regarding earning. My question to you is this. Have you ever seen a business make a profit from zero to 500 per week in 30 days?
Offline businesses don't break even until after the 2-year mark if they are lucky and with the costs of their overheads, it is often a lot longer than that.
People who build any business work very hard, focus on all they have to do and when they have a solid foundation for that business, then income normally starts flowing and every business builder is different online and offline as you will appreciate I'm sure
All you have to do is learn and work hard.
The choice is yours
If you don't think WA is for you, you can go to your account settings in your profile and cancel account and leave.
Its totally up to you on where you want your future to be

Well said, Vicki. I was helping a new referral get set up today and noticed the upgrade notifications. I reminded my new referral that they did not have to upgrade, but that I knew they would like it so much that they would want to. In the meantime, I told them to go through the first lessons and start working on their website!

As someone who has been self employed the last 13 years I’m well aware of the concept that it takes money to make money. That wasn’t my point. If a company is touting a system as being a good money making generator shouldn’t, you be able to make $ at any level? I’m not questioning the cost as it does seem reasonable now. The training I’ve taken is clear and informative. BUT with the understanding that I’m willing to put in the effort and time per the training, the system should generate some revenue regardless of what level I chose to invest.

Hi Corey, hope everyone has helped you feel more confident in Wealthy Affiliate. You CAN stay a starter member for as long as you need and have your two free SiteRubix websites hosted - as long as you log in regularly and work on them.
As a starter member, you will be able to read the blogs on the dashboard which often contain helpful information about making money and improving your website. In addition to the basic training. You can also use the search bar at the top and type in one or two word topics and see earlier posts and information.
after the 7 days, you will just lose some privileges including the ability to blog and ask questions. this means if you choose not to upgrade you will simply be working alone.
If you upgrade, that is when you will get a lot more training and hosting including hosting of your own domain names.
Unlike many other websites there really are only two levels, free and premium. No other upsells, downsells or having your arms tied behind you back sells at all.
You will always be encouraged to join premium, because there is so much more offered, but you will only receive this within the site and through emails - and you can choose to ignore them.
Hope this helps you understand a little more clearly.
