What is an Algorithm?
You might ask, what is an Algorithm? I ran a google search and found a variety ofdefinitions! According toMerrimam-Webster: an algorithm is “aprocedure for solving a mathematical problem in a finite number of steps that frequentlyinvolves repetition of an operation; broadly: a step-by-step procedure for solving a problem or accomplishing some endespecially by a computer!”
I’m a nurse and we use algorithms in themedical profession to treat life threatening medical conditions. The nursing staff are well-educated inspecific algorithms; therefore, when a patient walks into the Emergency Roomwith complaints of chest pain, they immediately take action and begin byobtaining an EKG, (reporting it to the physician), placing the patient on thecardiac monitor, providing oxygen as needed, starting an IV, drawing blood forlab work, and giving the patient an Aspirin by mouth (if the patient isn’tallergic to it), This initial processshould be accomplished in the first 15 minutes of arrival to the ER and byseveral nurses at one time. Once theseinitials steps are completed, often there’s a need for a repeat EKG and/orrepeat lab tests, and reassess the patient’s pain level. Thus, the process repeats, and/or you go tothe next step in the algorithm.
So, what does that have to do withme? The importance of this definitionand how it relates to your online business at Wealthy Affiliate is: it’s important to follow the steps set upthrough our education at Wealthy Affiliate and the repetition involved. In order to increase traffic to your website,you need to follow specific steps, use great (researched) keywords, write 1,000or greater word articles, make a schedule for yourself to post articles daily,weekly, or whatever frequency you decide on, schedule it and perform it, andcheck it off your list.
Frequency is not as important as consistency!

Great analogy indeed... when my husband was carried to emergency room, i realized how important this consistency of follow up was.... great indicator of real time happenings. And you are so right. Following the steps here on WA are no other. A sage guideline on a long journey...

Excellent post. I am familiar with algorithms from my medical device work at a quality engineer. Procedures and repetition to characterize and validate protocols to verify the path chosen is either correct or requires adjustment...I see what we do in WA no different. Best Regards, George
