Why keep going if you never seem to win?

For me it's remarkably simple. I always believed I could do better than the 9-5 grind. I have also always believed that making a living online is the way to go if you want to escape that grind, but like a great many of you on here I have tried many of those schemes and scams over the years that we all know about and have got nowhere.

To be fair there are probably many of them that would have worked had I really applied myself, but few of the systems I bought into offered much genuine help and advice and I took advantage of money-back guarantees on others, though needless to say I had to ask PayPal or my card issuer to intervene on some occasions. So I have probably wasted a lot of time but not so much cold hard cash. I always thought it a little strange because if the authors had put more effort in themselves they would have had a lot more successful affiliates around them and would have earned more money. It is clearly one of the main reasons that WA is successful

I have had limited success on eBay and more recently Amazon over the years but it is hard work, often very stressful and just like those schemes and scams there are times when you are paying them more than you are getting out of it. So it can be less rewarding and more hassle than it should be, but hey, it still beats a poorly paid 9-5 job.

I lost my Amazon account just over a month ago having reached a point where I was actually doing rather well, in fact better than I had been in some years. I might have stuck with it (given the choice) at least for a while. I won't bore you with too much detail but basically I was hounded by competitor(s) who kept reporting me for selling fake goods. The most frustrating thing is I had to recall my stock from Amazon FBA and although they are only small, low value items Amazon charge per-item so it cost me over $1,500 too get my stuff back, AND I dare not risk selling it on eBay in case the same thing happens.

So it's been tough. But I always knew that there was a place, somewhere out there, that would help me to do what I have always wanted to do, and that is to make money online. It doesn't have to be millions, but if I can buy us our own house again after losing our home 4 years ago, (also in circumstances where we were badly advised and ripped off by the lawyer who was supposed to be helping us with a bankruptcy issue), I will be happy to achieve that.

So yes I have had setbacks but I do not believe I have ever failed, things just haven't worked out. Why keep going? Because I never stopped believing I would find that place. That place is Wealthy Affiliates.

Coolcity. Your experiences are very similar to mine, so it gives me so much incentive to keep plugging away. Thanks for this very helpful blog post.

I think it is worth everybody remembering that even if you are not experienced internet marketers, or even if you are just getting started, ANY experience you have had in life is part of the learning curve and by sharing those experiences it helps others to find a way out, even if it is only a bit of light at the end of the tunnel.

What always kept me going is the fact that I always knew I would one day find the resources I need. The internet has thrown up a whole new world of opportunity for us and every single one of us can benefit by using the resources on offer here.

Never think it has already been done. If we all believed that then the iPhone, the laptop, Facebook, and everything else you can think of that is related to the internet would not exist because the internet itself would never exist. But we know it does exist so let's all go get a piece of it.

"Why keep going? Because I never stopped believing I would find that place." I love this line. It hits at the core of what I think the majority of us know and act on here at WA. Thanks for sharing your experiences and keep doing you :)

Know the feeling...I have been trying to make money online for several years. Wa is the best training I have seen out there!

Bravo! Inspirational story and thanks for sharing it with this community. Lee

Thanks Lee

Great post and very encouraging. I really liked your comment about "genuine" help because that's what WA has come to mean to me. Kyle recently commented on one of my comments; he told me I was doing "awesome" and you know what? That's exactly what I needed to hear at that moment.

I want to say that back to you; after reading of the things you've been through, some of them similar to mine, I can only say, wow, you're doing awesome because you have never stopped believing in yourself and now Wealthy Affiliate. Keep forging ahead and know that the rest of us are on this journey with you.

Thanks, kind words.

I have found a sense of enthusiasm that I have not had for years when I discovered WA. I have always had the will deep down inside but have never had the knowledge and support that can be the difference between succeeding and failing. WA has now filled in those gaps and I now feel as if I know where I am headed instead of stumbling around in the dark.

Awesome post! I found it very inspiring and have to say I agree with everything you have written in it. Sounds like you've had quite a few bumps in the road, but I wouldn't consider it failure either as long as you pick yourself up and keep on going. It's better to learn from our mistakes than not try at all for fear of "failure." Keep up the great work!

Oh don't get me wrong, it's always a concern wondering if things are going to work out or not, and we all need a little inspiration sometimes but you're never going to win if you don't enter the race!

Great blog thank you.

Kymee

Thanks. Lots of inspiration from the people on here which makes a world of difference.

I do have to say I had to take a double take and then a triple of the word belching. I scanned the blog again to see if I missed something and then Duh new that you misspelled LOL....darn autocorrect why belching of all words Haha

Android's autocorrect drives me mad, I spend more time recorrecting the autocorrect that I do writing the article!

I missed that one.

Good inspiration to keep going coolcity

"belching" at the foot of the article should read "believing". Damned smartass andriod tablet thinks it can write better than I can, haha.

Got it, thanks

That's tru, (Tru from the show Tru Calling, my little inside joke). I'm not going to go into the whole light bulb quote, but a horse quote. If I have trouble getting a horse to do a maneuver. Then all I need to do is find the right way to do it with that horse. Technique, A, B, and C might not work with this horse, trying those and then marking them off isn't failing. Going to D and having it work is success. Stopping at C is failing.

I have my horse friend, (The one I talked about in my blog) that doesn't like to try new things for fear of failure. Failure to her is not doing it right the very first time. It's sad most people feel that way, that if they can't get it right the first time they failed.

No, it's called learning and the learning curve. I just want to say to them, but they haven't listened yet.

I agree. We were discussing finances the other day but my wife said "You won't fail because you never give up".

To me, to give up is to fail. I don't know how to.

And I'll even write a blog about this. But they see doing it not right the first time failing. I see learning. When I started building Rustic Log furniture, my first piece isn't that good. But I built it. I now look back and think, wow, I would never have done that, this and the other now. For the time however it was good. My skill improved and so did the work I put out. But if they didn't do it perfect the first time, they failed.
