Overwhelmed by Photos!
So, I am someone who uses a lot of photos. In fact, someday I hope to offer them for sale. I have been on this Weatthy Affiliate Journey for 10 months now. I have 35 posts under my belt and about .25% of them are on the first page of Google.
I seemed to have run into a little snag along the way though. I have been doing quite a few things wrong and I wanted to give the heads up to any newbies out there so you do not have to spend hours and hours fixing what should have been a simple task.
First off, when you upload a picture to your computer, make sure to name the photo, do not use the generic nuumbers as the title
Ok, so you have the uploaded photo, make sure to use the alt text. I have been advised that the title name plus the keyword is a great alt text option. Just make sure that you do not over do it with keyword stuffing. I have also found that when adding the keyword intermittedly works best. Otherwise, describing what the picture is, is another great stategy when using the alt text.
So all in all, because of my early mistakes, I have well over a 100 hours of work to do. That is ok, though because I am not stopping until every photo/video is done correctly.
I hope this helps a few out there!

I understand your dilemma, Colleen.
Been there - got the T-shirt.
I, too use a plethora of images - with over 150 posts, I have added over 1600 images. That averages out to more than 10 images per post. Of course, some of my posts have more - and some have less.
I recently went through the entire collection of images to ensure that the "alt text" and the "image title attribute" was still what I wanted them to be and, as always, I did some tweaking along the way. Whew! That was almost an insurmountable task!
Like I said - got the T-shirt.
Did I mention that I also have the baseball cap?

Thank you! I thought I was the only one. I might have overdone it with the photos in my posts. A few of them have close to a 100. I spent all day yesterday on my daughter's computer searching and re-uploading. Can you point me to my T-shirt ;-)
So true.
There should be a class all bloggers are required to pass, called: "You May Not Blog Until You First Learn These Basic Things," and this should be in the class. :-)
It would save people lots of time in the end!
Ironically, when I do a Google image search, I even see big name news sites & other well-known websites constantly forget to change the photo name to something relevant.
Such an easy thing to forget.
Good luck on remanding all your photos! Hope it goes quickly!

Since you take such gorgeous photos, you might want to consider putting a watermark on them, to discourage people from using them without permission.
The alt text is for the visually impaired, so that they can understand what the photo is, even though they can't see it.

Also Colleen, if you use SiteContent and upload manually you might like to compress your images before doing so. The other images there are already compressed but I don't know if the manual ones are.
Leoemery has a post on this When you need help like this use the Need Help JP box above. I typed resizing pictures in there and got a number of answers. Here is the link to do this in WP. Now note I haven't tried this so I would love a note back from you to see if it works. How to resize your pics in WP . I use the first one as it does both png and jpeg.
Another thing I found out is, if you edit your image and reupload it change the name.
