On the 17th of September I celebrated my one year anniversary at Wealthy Affiliate and I have to say, that my life has changed for the better. So far I have written 43 posts and about 60% are on the first page. The thing is, is that all of my keywords are not that strong as I only get about 120 people a week. I am not complaining because the numbers are steadily climbing.

Wealthy Affiliate is Always on my Mind

I have become a bit obsessive, I have to admit. I recall reading a blog about a month ago here where someone compared it to having an affair. That really resonated with me. I am always thinking about my website. Even when I am at work, I am always scribbling down ideas. I love it! When I am at home I am constantly working, sometimes up to 12 hours a day.

I Have a New Purpose in Life

I just turned 50 and any day now I am going to be a Grandma for the first time. Two of my children are out of the house and my youngest is a Senior in High School. She will be gone next year. I surely am not looking forward to that.

Life is changing for me. All I have ever known for the last 22 years is being a stay at home Mom. I am so grateful to Wealthy Affiliate for giving me the tools and knowledge to create my own personal website. Concentrating on new ideas has helped me immensely from missing my kids. I have a new focus. It is not necessarily just for money. I am having so much fun learning all there is to know about the ecology, flora and fauna of Southern California.

One Problem That I Have Encountered

One problem that I am having though, is figuring out what to sell. You see, my site showcases the coast of San Diego. I have a biology degree, so I have been adding scientific facts. It is more of a naturalist type of site.

I guess my goal is to get traffic...lots of traffic and see what I can do from there.

Something I Wanted to Share

Just last night, I tried out Crowdfire for the first time. I am not that keen on Twitter, but I have found that including multiple hashtags helps immensely.

It might not be that big of a deal, but today I had two governmental agencies re-tweet a post that I put on Twitter!

Selling Photos

Finally, I checked out a few sites concerning selling my photos, and so far I am just not that sure. Does anyone know of a great site that you can showcase photos or maybe even make a calendar or an e-book? I get so frustrated looking and most you have to join.

I am still a Google Maps Photo Ambassador with almost 2.8 millions views. A few months ago I was getting about 8000 views a week, now it can be almost over 20,000 views in a day! I am waiting to get to 10 million views to see if I will be able to add my website address on the photo. We will see.

Special Thanks

Special thanks to all of you here at Wealthy Affiliate, I appreciate you all! I love that I can find so many motivated people who are all on a similar journey helping each other succeed!

BTW - Happy Anniversary!
You have a beautiful easy to love energy about you. 0:)

Thank you so much, Nancy!

Hi Colleen and Congratulations on your 1 year WAnniversary!

Re your photos - I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for but there is a site called Mixbook Photo Co. https://www.mixbook.com/

I have used it only once to create a book of photos I took while at Yellowstone Park last year.

There is an offer for 50% of your first order. If it isn't too pricey maybe you could use this service to create books or calendars, photo cards, etc. that you then sell to the public.

Another source that I often overlook are the apps in the Google Play Store or Microsoft Store (Android OS, not sure the name of the app store on an Apple device). It doesn't cost anything to look around - you never know what you might find. :-)

Susan

Thank you so much for the tips!! I will check it out!

Congratulations Colleen. Ideas for what you sell.... maybe you could recommend walking shoes, natural sunscreen and bug repellent. If you’re site is all about natural areas, I would think of things people need during a trip there. Sunhats for summer, wool hats for winter. Maybe think about the seasons and that might give you ideas.
Tours/trips around the areas you mention in the post.
Sorry if you’ve already thought of these ideas.

Please do not be sorry. I have not thought of those. As far as I got was beach towels! Thank you for the ideas!

Congratulations on your milestone. Your committment is beginning to pay off. Keep up the good work.

Thank you, William!

Hi Colleen
Firstly Congrats on your anniversary here with WA. It certainly is amazing alrightYou could try creating a book through Amazon. They have a kindle book publishing facility and this might be the place for your book to be done. Worth a look
I downloaded kindle create and it is so easy to use - It may be of help to you
All the best with this also look out - being a Grandma is soooo special. I'm sure you will fall in love all over again :)
Vicki

Oh yes, the Kindle Create Space is good - my husband has published a few books through that site and it is free easy to use.

Yes I love it as well Susan- A great resource

Thank you! Do you have to have a Kindle? Thank you so much for the ideas. I really appreciate it!

Yes, Colleen, I have a kindle account and love it
I did have a book for sale but only a small one to see what happened
I took it down and I am now working towards my next publish
Vicki

You don't have to have a Kindle per se, but just need a Kindle account and download the app to whatever device you want to use.
My husband has downloaded the Kindle app on his computer and I have it downloaded on my Google tablet. You can also download it on your smartphone. Amazon is too shrewd to limit Kindle to their devices only! :-)

Thank you for the tip Sam!

Haha. I totally agree it's like a affair, not that I've ever had one. So much time is invested here at WA. Great post.. I've had a few ebooks made through 'Elance'. They probably do calendars etc also, or 'fiverr' might be worth checking out.
Cheers
Dave

Thank you, Dave! I will check those out!

Congratulations Colleen on your 1st Anniversary.
