If I transfer a domain to WA hosting, and the site is already built.. Can I still log in through the site manager the same as any site that I started here? What if it isn't a w

Did you get this figured out yet

Yeah, the bulkier comment below explains the direction things are going. Sounds like this band really didn't like what the person before had going for them and they decided they'd rather pay me to build WP from scratch.

Thanks,
Zach

I wish you the best of luck!

Thank you very much!

It's not a WP site. But I believe I convinced the owner that a complete overhaul was a better plan than simply doing a couple of updates. Bigger bucks for me if I get him to fully commit to a site redo!

I was doing a little pre-research and no matter which CMS identifier site I used, it came up as CMS not found. So the site isn't on a CMS to begin with, which explains why he was having so much trouble. It's a band website that needs to be updated constantly with new concert dates, new music, merchandise.... and the bright idea of the person that built this site for these guys was to develop a site that they wouldn't have a clue how to get into themselves to update? Smart for continued business, I guess. It isn't very courteous though, especially if whoever this person is won't stay on top of the updates! They play several shows every single month and there hasn't been a new show date on the site since early June!!!

I'm going to build them the site that they need and then show them how to simply add shows and reply to comments. Then maybe refer them to WA.

But is not a different site, then WP? That is really important...

Hope it works. I'll be watching to see how it turns out.

Many people recently including me have been asking about transferring a non WordPress website to site Rubix. Marion Black seems to be the most knowledgeable on the subject and she has a way to do it. I have many websites in fact most websites are not WordPress. I was making plenty of money on those sites before I came to WA. I still do.

Hello,

You can best compare it with a sort of copy, paste, but in the meantime the process also performs a "find and replace all" task with the old and the new domain name...

And that's it...

Grtz,
Bert

About a week or so ago I noticed that my publishing frequency was dropping and it has continued to drop down to 30% even though I have been adding new pages and posts very freq

Thank you for sharing.

As regular anything has not happened the past 2 weeks for me- I commend you for continuing your frequency rate! But this too shall pass!
Sami

This "health" meter is just a fancy way of making a crutch for you.
It has its own glitches, and it won't see all the pages especially when you start putting them in some kind of order (like under hierarchy) - like some pages are subpages of pages. It will loose its track there.

But it is NOT the main judge of your site. It is created to help you get into rhythm of posting. Keeping amount of plugins down and comments & engagement up.

It is just a "fast & dirty" way of showing information about your domain.
And a hub to quickly login to your site, reset password, etc.

Most important thing is Goodle ... i mean google ;) & bing, and then other search engines.
It is important that all your pages/posts/ comments are seen by Web Masters Tools in google (search console) and that they are indexed and ranked well.
Or social media (but it needs special targeting strategies)
If you're not found there... you don't exist.

Sub-pages! Eureka!

That explains it, I have very many child pages and grandchild pages and great grandchild pages...

5/25 pages are showing in sitehealth and 5/25 pages are "main pages"

I wasn't worried about my sites actual "health", I'm just highly OCD! Even knowing why they don't show up, I'm still going to be bothered by it every time I log into my website.. on an unhealthy level... HA! Oh well.

Thanks shoofar!

Search for EFT and compulsive behavior if you want to get it under control (lol sorry for the pun)
But really look for EFT if you want to lower your OCD

It's all good, OCD had it's advantages too! I don't mind it a bit!

Funny

Generally, pressing the little green button in the login will sync or refresh your site and it will give you true readings. Although, I have noticed recently that publishing frequency changes quickly if you're not adding content, regularly. I think it's dropping at a faster rate than usual.
Ed

Try re-syncing your site in the 'login' button. If that fails, reset your browser. If neither of those work, I'm not sure.

I've tried re-syncing and that hasn't worked. I just tried it again now to be sure. It's staying current with all of the post and comment counts though..

Thanks for the ideas

Over the last 4 days, my sessions have spiked 2 or 3 times over average and I have suddenly had 100% bounce rate every day. Over the last 4 days my average bounce rate has gone

look for posts about referral spam and how to block it and how to filter it out from google analytics.

The easiest way is to block it in .htaccess file via FTP in httpdocs folder, but it is manual and you may have problems to block it all when it really start to hit you.
So ignore it (not proffessional ;) )
or do it manually
or look for a plugin that can block referral spam bots

Manually:
For each offending host
add those lines to .htaccess file
substitute "offending.host" with proper host name.
## SITE REFERRER BANNING (just a comment to mark a section)
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} offending.host [NC,OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} offending.host
RewriteRule .* - [F]

This is all great info. I've taken a screen shot of your post to refer back to.

My only question for you is, if I simply ignore it, this referral spam isn't actually hurting anything aside from the reliability of my analytics numbers, right?

In other words, it has no effect on how google decides to rank my pages or posts?

It might hurt your rankings - I've read that it leaves prints in your access log that google can read and it sees high bounce rate there.

Block it manually or think of using some referral spam bot blocker plugins

Sounds good, thank you very much for the advice and detailed instructions. I'm sure glad to be a WA member today!!

Did you solve your problem Zach?

Well today has had an "average" number of sessions, however, the bounce rate is still higher than normal.

Bounce rate used to be 0% often and occasionally I would have days with a few bounces.

As far as Google Webmaster Tools goes; I'm just debating on which site map to remove. One seems a bit more like a full index and the other is website.sitemap.xml
They both stay current with new pages and posts when I publish new material. Maybe it doesn't really matter though. Maybe I can just use half of the total indexed number for my own reference. It doesn't have any effect on where my site and pages get indexed, does it?

I have the same issue. I'm learning from the responses here. Thank you for sharing.

I have had this happen and it seems to be referral traffic from Russia will go over my things again

I have noticed an increase of fake sites visiting and for the first time... over the last for days "non-specified" country? is showing up about 35 sessions over the last 4 or 5 days. Thats about 5% of my total sessions since the site has been up 10/16....

Google says they are B.S. sites.. copyrightclaims.23252243.324326435.213213.com

stuff like that, multiple times.

what you need to do if your using the all in one SEO make sure you have activated the bad bot blocker, go to google admin then filters then add new one and put this url address in for it to be blocked

Is it possible you have a sitemap conflict? The all in one and the yoast? You can also keep the all in one and follow these points

This is possible, I'm going to look into that as it looks like there are 2 sitemaps with the exact same quantities of submitted urls and images. Thanks Loes

Have you:
- using site comment feature to request comments for your website a LOT in these past few days, or
- submit your website to Stumbleupon, or
- using traffic exchange site?

Other than making sales like what have been mention by mija, those activities can also increase your bounce rate significantly.

No nothing like that. A couple of comments through the site comments but very very few. And I've been specifically trying not to "take any shortcuts" for the sake of trying to have people that are interested in the content be the majority of my visitors.

I've not yet made a sale through any affiliate links..

Have you been making sales lately? Making sales can raise bounce rate.

Also, do I need to keep the exclude pages plug in for any reason? Trying to knock out the unnecessary plug ins..

I am big on plugins. And this is something I have wondered myself. I currently am running like 12 plugins. So, I gave up on the SiteHealth liking my plugin number.

Thanks guys, SiteRubix keeps decreasing my site health for having more than 5 plugins. they add up quick! 2 for spam, ai1 SEO, some social media and you've hit 5 haha. I'm guessing having 6 or 7 doesn't kill the site anyway..

Hi Cole, from what I have read in the trainings, not any one method is full proof for avoiding unwanted spam. (not even Akismet). It is best to keep both methods to weed out as much as possible.

It will save you also a lot of un wanted spam

I think there is no harm keeping both

Having akismet, do i need to keep si captcha as well?

I put my Adsense code into a text widget. There's no need for a plugin. ~Marion

Thanks Marion!

Perfect 2 minute solution, you are wonderful!!

First there are over 1,000 different Adsense Plugins and no Adsense Plugin is really needed. Second, if it is the first time setting up new ad zones it takes up to 6 hours for them to appear because Adsense will first crawl your site to match the best possible ads to your content.

I just went with googles official plug in for wordpress and it shows all the options. Where can I just insert the html code instead? I have a basic understanding of html but it is just that. Basic. I selected the auto placement ad for the code google gave me. Avoiding the plugin seems easier.

I know it'll take a bit for the ads to show up but it said it should all work and just have solid color boxes where the ads will be.

It showed on one of their html support pages that it just had to be between <body> and<body> but with word press wouldn't that just be anywhere on any page? don't they just leave the body text outside of the box that I am editing within?

Use text widgets in the sidebar and header, and or single post templates. If you wish to insert the ads in the post use a regularly maintained plugin like Max Banner Ads from Max Blog Press known as MBP.
