WA Rules 6 & 7

This is a continuation of an Analysis of the WA rules; the more I look at the rules in isolation, the more I need clarification.

It must be heart breaking to lose privileges here at WA for unconsciously breaking the rules.

In rule six, what is meant by Rants are OK; can someone give us an example of an OK Rant.

Does forum posts include chat rooms, affiliate classrooms, live webinars, comments and feedback and Bootcamp? What if a post is not a deliberate promotion; who draws the line?

Sometimes there is a thin line between Affiliate and Wealthy Affiliate.

Are they rules for websites only?

Rule 7

This rule is crucial, especially for private messages; it is a rule that can be easily broken or misunderstood.

What if you are responding to a question from a premium member via a private message or in one of the WA forums?

This rule deserves some deep discussion to get a better understanding.

Hi Courtney, perhaps it's wise to add the link to the Spam is a no-no page, so people can read the rules first.

Rule #6
I have written a few rants, here is one of them for example Rule #7
Asking people via PM, blog or in chat, to join you on some program and leaving your affiliate link, is not allowed, and when you are asked to give your affiliate link, to play it safe, PM the link to the member.
Definitely, do not write a blog that some members have asked for your link and then provide the link in the blog, that's a no-no. No blogs around affiliate links!

Loes you have read my mind, I have just completed a follow up blog, not yet published and you have answered one of my questions.

On rule 7, I am not sure ; I have received requests before but did not comply because of the uncertainty. Thanks for your contribution.Nuff respect.

Glad I could contribute Courtney

I'll leave Rule #6 alone, I think it's fairly self explanatory.

With regard to Rule #7 I have sent affiliate links many times but only when invited. If someone is inquiring about a specific product and I'm an affiliate for that product I may say "ask for my affiliate link". Then it's up to the other person to ask me for my link. If they ask I give them my link, if they don't ask I say nothing.

We are all affiliate marketers here. If someone wants to use another member's affiliate link then why not?

Is there anything wrong with making a purchase from Amazon via another member who's Amazon account is about to be closed because of no sales?

Providing affiliate links that are not solicited is definitely spam. But if someone asks for an affiliate link I will provide it in a private message.

Thanks Marion; I agree with your sentiments on rule 7; but if my understanding is correct you are still breaking the rule.

Hi, this is all very interesting. However, where does someone find those rules? I've searched pretty much everywhere on WA website but I am unable to find them. Can you direct me please?

Here's the link

Thanks Marion :)
