WA Promotion By Word Of Mouth

I have raised this question several times, but am yet to receive a satisfactory answer.

I meet people from all over the world almost every day; I am constantly singing the praises of the platform that hosts my websites-WA.

Unfortunately I am a little reluctant to mention the name Wealthy Affiliate as I only see these people for half an hour or an hour at the most.

I am hoping to earn money from my WA Affiliate program, but if one of the people I have been singing the praises to go home and search for wealthy Affiliate and join as a premium member as a result; I will not benefit from that referral.

Is it selfish to be thinking like that?

I wish there was some system where a word of mouth referral could be recognized and rewarded. I have been trying to entertain a suggestion but came up empty.

I feel utterly embarrassed when I am asked to write down the name of the platform and my response is to ask for an email address to which I can forward the link.

Are there any other ideas.

I would tell people that I show others how to build a profitable online business without mentioning WA upfront.

Hand out business cards with your website on them. They can join WA through your affiliate link that way.

I do have business cards, but there is a link missing when it comes to brief conversations and you mention WA; I have had people who just went home and searched for WA rather than going to my website first.

When you face that situation, reach for the inner salesman and say, "I want to tell you exactly where to go but I am also interested in establishing a connection with you. To be honest, just like the name states, I am an affiliate of WA. If I could send you a link via email, we stay connected and I get credit if you decide to become a member. There's no obligation and there is a free membership path as well that you can test drive to see if it's a right fit. What's your email?"

Don't give them a chance to balk.

very good idea,
not only do you continue to promote WA,
but you continue to develop the relationship
and that is far more important & will have far lasting value

all the best,

Great idea; I am a shy person and is always hesitant about a hard sell.I must rehearse your words.

I learned from another person that asking for an email address allows for a bit of space -- it is not as intrusive as asking for a phone#

all the besr

Me too, me too!

I think not...Kyle and Carson need to come up with a process which covers ALL types of referrals, it seems to me...but my surmise is that they are already working on it...

I agree with you; maybe we can all put our thinking caps on to see if we can come up with a workable idea.

The situation depends. But generally at the first time, you don't mention Wealthy Affiliate. What you need to do is to understand their need and add value to them. Treat it as making a friend and have a normal conversation but focusing on them not you.

In this way, you will be able to gain some trust and connection. You will also understand their wants and needs. After that, make sure you have their means of contact to follow up with them. (Remember that you are making friend!)

After you can contact them via your phone through any messaging platform, you can then HELP them solve their problems or meeting their needs and wants by recommending them Wealthy Affiliate. Via these platforms, you definitely can send them your links. But remember you are always helping and adding value to them.

When talking about WA, make sure you focus on how they will benefit instead of what are the features of WA. There's a difference here. People want to hear how you can help them and how they can benefit. They are not interested in hearing features after features after features but don't know how these can help them. The "HOW" here is definitely different for different people because they all have different issues so you need to customize it according to their situation.

After all, promoting WA by word of mouth is an art. Just like any selling, you need to build relationships with them and help them. The constant salesy and pushy pitching is not the way to go. Also, the context and situation is different from person to person so there's no fixed template or process to follow. The only rule to follow is to make friends and HELP!

Don't be too stressed about getting everyone to join you because WA is definitely not for everyone. Not everyone will be interested. But don't break the trust and relationships just because you are trying too hard for it.

Remember that you cannot "make a sale". Only they (your customer) can do that. (Ultimately, it's their decision to decide whether they can trust you and buy from you) What you can do is create value.

Hope this makes sense and helps:)

By the way, there's a really great book that can help you with this. It's called "Go-Giver Sells More". You should take a look at it.

Thanks so much; I recently had an experience where I used your suggestion; I recently met a lady who was distressed after losing a job she held for many years; I was trying to help by discussing alternatives. i found out from a mutual friend that she described me as being very gracious; I did send her the link and plan to follow up.She was the daughter of a friend's friend.

Good! Keep it up!

Thanks for sharing.

Even putting a QR code on a business card would be super helpful. Then someone could scan the code and visit WA from their phone super easily without having to type the whole URL and referral part of the link.

There are a few different free QR code generators online. You just copy-paste the URL, the website generates a QR code, and you can download it as a jpg or some other image file.

That's flipping brilliant.

Good Thinking; one for the note pad.

the challenge is simple, how do you connect the word of mouth referral to you.

WA is fully online, so what you need is a simple link, that you can either write down for them, or pass to them as part of biz card, that link now connects that referral to you

hope this helps

This we are aware of but it is not always that simple; I like the business card idea.

Even with the biz card, keep a very simple link such as a biy.ly link

all the best
