Is gdpr still an issue at wa?

There has been some discussions concerning GDPR compliance at WA.

According to one post the recommended plugin was not working, and another confirmed that there was an issue with a particular plugin.

Kyle provided a template and recommended a template.

Does the issue still exist even if the correct instructions were followed?

Who will be fined for non-compliance, and what is the nature of the fines.

Can anyone shed some light on the issue; was the issue fixed.?

Glad you asked! I've been getting, like everyone else, a raft of "we've updated our..." emails and it never occurred to me to check whether WA blogs and advisories were compliant. I'm eager to see what the consensus is....

Likewise.there is a feeling that it may not concern small fry .but that is no excuse not to be compliment.

Not encouraged by the lack of WA specificity with these answers. Seems like nobody else knows as much about it as you do! Not useful!

Sorry I don,t know much.just followed Kyle but some thinks it's not enough.

GDPR is a set of guidelines that must be followed and will always be required going forward.

https://www.eugdpr.org is a great website that answers a lot of questions if you don't know if you are compliant as they have a checklist.

GDPR affects us differently depending on what information you wish to store i.e cookies, forum accounts or payment information. For the majority having a consent box for the customer to tick as long as it is not auto checked will be fine.

Who will be fined and how? What if the fine is not paid?there are a lot of unanswered questions

People who hold inaccurate data or data that doesn't have explicit consent from the START of the deadline can be fined and the fines are tied to the income of the business being fined.

If you hold data that was obtained before the GDPR date you may keep it by using what is called a soft opt in which means you assume you have consent but allow your customers to opt out at any time.

It's unlikely that small businesses will be targeted as the main reason for GDPR are for businesses who cold call to sell insurance or ppi/injury claims.

If you are not a LLC or limited liability company then you will be personally liable for compliance and fines but if you are ltd then your company is liable. Either way as long as you always ask for consent to any data you collect you will be fine.

Fines will have to be paid as there will be legal implications of not paying but seriously don't be afraid of GDPR, it's targeted towards large businesses like facebook, apple, Microsoft and things like supermarkets and travel agencies.

Are you aware of the template that was designed by Kyle? The suggestion is that ever corporate lawyers are puzzled.
