I still cannot understand how I am constantly missing the notifications of new followers

It is my normal practice to thank new followers for joining the network and return the favor. I try to check notifications daily.

Today my followers stood at 1937, and 18 were notifications that I seem to have missed.

I would like to use this opportunity to thank them for joining the network and let them know I have returned the favor.

There are still some unanswered questions, (1) How many of those followers are still active? (2) How can the process of following be more meaningful to WA members?

Forgive me if I repeat myself, but I believe this is a WA asset in blossom waiting to explode into full blown flowers

When there are notifications of WA blogs the number of responses does not normally bear any relationship to the number of followers.

If you have any thoughts on making WA following more meaningful, please share.

Courtney Congrats! 1900 followers that's courageous.
Have you clicked on the second icon at the top of your dashboard?
Most times, I go there to see how many I have followed and how many is following me back.

Some people are not active, although they signed on as a member. Many people leave and return at a later date.

Make sure you follow those that need to be followed. Your email has everyone that has followed you, just click on their picture and bring up their profile. There you can check how active they are.

Hope this helps!

People come and go not necessarily LEAVE WA but stray away for a while and come back. I myself get sidetracked.

When I first started, I read every blog that anyone wrote. As time went on and got more followers (and followed more as I normally reciprocate), I found that to be an impossible task. So, while you may have 2000 followers, only a fraction will read your blog.

PS Congrats on the 1900! Regardless of what my previous rant implies!

Thank you ..

I have wondered about some of the same things, Courtney: how does anyone keep up with 8,000 followers, 4,000? even your 1,900!
I just looked and I have 154 followers; I don't remember how to check, but I think those I'm following must be approximately the same, since I respond to every "follow" message I receive.
I'm spening hours and hours every day just checking my email messages, following the new follows I've received and reading and liking/commenting on every post that is sent to me!
I don't have the eye-power after that to continue doing coursework and/or my own writing! How do you do it? How does anyone with10, 100, 1000 times as many followers do it?
I marvel, and I fear what is coming at me: is there a method to get this done? Courtney, you, like me, always write extensively in reply to comments about your posts. Okay, no customers at the gallery, I get that, but really! How many hours a day to spend just reading and replying?
I've got to find out before this reply-narcotic overwhelms me!
Tim

Sadly all the listed followers won't keep you too busy; there has to be a way to know the quality from the numbers. There is a routine that need to upgrade somehow. I am still looking for suggestions to add more meaning to the process.

I look forward to whatever your other correspondents suggest!

Congratulations on the !900+ followers!

Thanks Linda.

Congrats on receiving 1900 followers, Courtney!

You know you can click that blue icon at the top of your screen that shows the number of followers, then scroll down to see who is following you that you may not have returned the follow.

I really don't know how you can effectively engage with all your followers. I mean, there are members who have over 5,000 followers! There's no way you can have a personal connection with 5,000 people!

One thing that I've done, that I'd like to do more consistently, is to just send a quick message to someone whom I may not have connected with in a while. If you go to someone's Profile Page and notice they haven't responded to any messages in a while - like a month or more - that could be an indication that they stepped away for a bit.

Maybe one day they will make some sort of revision so we can easily see who is and who is not active. Anyway, congrats again on the followers, Courtney.

Thank you Veronica that is how i now track the followers, I did that exercise about one month ago by just paying old friends a visit, and that is when I noticed that many of them had moved on. some kind of signal would be appreciated, but I think I understand why not; but I prefer quality to quantity. 10% responses is not unreasonable.Blessings.
