Expert Help Desk For Seniors
Time is of the essence for us seniors. Some may disagree with me, but I have enough confidence in myself to know my limitations; I can still run 100 yards, but I will never challenge Darnell Hughes to a 100 yards dash. Remember that name, he is from the rock.
I am following an interesting case study, and judging from snippets of the language, strategies and techniques of someone with over 25 years of experience as a website developer; I have decided that I definitely need some specific expert help.
An expert help Desk for seniors will be like putting a chocolate topping on the vanilla ice cream or being invited for a glass of vintage wine after the wine tasting party.
Are there any expert web developers and IT Technicians at WA that has a taste for chocolate ice cream or vintage wines?

Lets put that "not as sharp" to rest. You're way more intelligent than some half your age!
Nothing to do with intelligence.I teach ceramic technology but some of my best potters cannot mix they own glaze.they can apply it when I mix it.

I did not touch computers before 2013 and that was only to type in WordPress and online business at end of 2015 when I joined WA.Let's face it,There are experts that have least from years of training ,experience and trial and error.
I would use it. I am 67 and take half a day to do something that someone brought up on computers and backends could do in half an hour.

No complaints but I can understand why some of our experts are receiving Private messages .
I'm a youngster at 60. I have never been very good at technical things, or craft for that matter! But here at WA there are plenty of people who are willing to point you in the right direction.
The 'Help Desk for Seniors' is a great idea.

I am curious about the name.Are you English? my education Tutor in England often addressed me in error as Mr.Devonshire.Thanks for supporting the idea .our only disco use to have one over sixties night every month. I did feel young at sixty but I only dance solo in private these days for exercise.' Thanks for engaging.
Yes English, but not from Devonshire, I guess the family was in the dim and distant. No dancing for me, since I had my stroke!

I joined WA as a reluctant retiree and that status won’t change so I join you in these thoughts.
The thing I find with being a senior is that I don’t feel any pressure or need to set the world on fire. I am happy to work through the training, write and publish blogs and develop my websites. At present the income side of it is a bonus and while it is great to receive payments it is not my holy grail, whereas meeting and sharing with all you great people on WA most certainly is.

Hi, I am totally with you on this! I am 65 and recently went through chemo for breast cancer. I used to have the brain of an elephant. Now I can barely remember my own name some days! It would be wonderful if there were some younger WA members to help the older members here. I like that - Senior Help Desk! Or maybe all of us seniors could band together and help each other?? Either way, it would be a win! Thanks for the idea.

The opportunity to help each other is here at Wa and members are doing it every day,plus there are lots of training ; It is that next step technique that requires expert help. Wishing you the very best.

You know how many super dab-hand gifted wordpress users there are here in the WA community - you only ever need to ask a question, and there will be at least a half a dozen answers with various solutions.
As for your feeling less sharp... stop...stop. You will feel as new to wordpress and HTML as any 20yr old visiting those things for the first time. Nothing to do with your age! Many young 'digital natives' have only superficial experience of device usage and online activity. Their age needn't give them any advantage over you. You've still got it. :)
