Artificial Intelligence
Last week I posted a blog that I withdrew before anyone commented on it; I must confess I suspected the negative vibes. The title was provocative because it is a very important subject that people need to think about.
Perhaps the title the was too controversial; in the blog I had warned about the danger of automation and AI to the human race. I have been writing about the subject for more than a year.
Some of the world’s smartest people and leading scientists have issued the same warning in a signed letter put together by the Future of life Institute. They are not calling for a ban on research but for responsible oversight
Among the names are Stephen Hawkins, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Luke Muegthanauser, Frank Wilczek, Nick Bostrom.
If you are not aware of any of the above names, just do an Internet research.
If you care about your children and grand children, get involved. Goggle the subject and learn all about AI.

Hei is amazing; I wish more people would listen to him; I am not sure but I think he was the first to sound the warning.
I have the same worries as you have. Our technology isn't moving into the right direction. We are heading towards a huge disaster. Not you or me will suffer. For that we are both too old. But our children and grandchildren will. Seems to me you are well informed. If you know some sites to watch, I would really appreciate if you could PM me the links. Thanks in advance.
I feel for the youth and they are already suffering and unfortunately we are paying the price; crime is escalating in many countries and a lot of it is youth on youth. How is it in your neck of the woods?
It's pretty similar. The social structures are slowly falling appart. More and more people think only about themselves. In earlier time it was normal people got married and created a family. Then in the 80's people didn't get married anymore. They were just living together. Some with and some without children. Nowadays they don't even live together. They call themselves live partners, but live in different apartments. They communicate through text messages. They call this having freedom. For me not understandable.
A favorite subject I have posted about Courtney. I am interested in driverless cars but it might not happen in by lifetime. There is too much status quo retrograde!
As I have I have been working with the concept and trying to adjust to it for retirement, I too find it very interesting. Have written about the impact on us in retirement, and how we have to learn to work with it to avoid frustration. I am dealing with as much technology as any part of the picture. More in communications. Thanks for pointing out the other side of the coin with all the other ways AI is affecting our world.

I agree with the scientists on the question of responsible oversight. Progress might be progress towards destruction.Sometimes we have to look at the pros and cons, and make responsible decisions.
