As a child I used to hear about getting high on sugar when we were displaying too much energy, but it was never said in a positive light.
I did not see any warnings for people suffering with high blood pressure; That does not mean there weren't any.

I ( Elaine ) , was told sugar will keep you up all Nite ”
I do love me some sugar. It makes a girl feel good.! Especially the calorie free sugar. Ha
Most things, if not all, there are good and bad. The over sixty thing, no experience in that field. Lol. Growing up in Trinidad, sugarcane was in my backyard, maybe that is where I got my energy from. But what I do know, we use to feed the horses with molasses and a little water added to it. Hope that helps!
That sugar was bad for you. It would kill the enamel on your teeth and when you came down from your sugar high that you would plummet farther down than you would otherwise.

Sometimes, but not all the time. I think within the next decade, pills will be available to have us looking and feeling younger. On the same note, younger people today has very little energy than the ones back then, maybe is because of the Internet and video games.
Had not considered a bit of sugar, but know that drinking more water helps to keep more focused. As we get older the urge to drink enough water goes away. A small amount of fruit juice diluted with cold water sounds really refreshing, A better way to get both benefits.

That is a good tip thanks, Courtney, not there yet, but going to try that one,
As a child and from a family of very good cooks, us children were only aloud one piece from each plate at afternoon tea time, so we didn't go silly as my auntie used to say.
Moving forward to today's environment parents seen to be aware about children's exposure to sugar, especially in processed food and lollies and soft drinks, I guess because of the amount that Manufacturers are adding, it is not uncommon to see mums reading labels in super market isles.
I stopped taking sugar in my tea during the sugar shortage in the UK in the '70's. Never gone back.
As a child, I didn't have a lot of sugar as my Mother said it wasn't good for me
As an Adult, I do not have too much sugar as I am diabetic

Unfortunately I love my sugar. Especially if it's rapped in chocolate. We didn't eat as much sugar when we were younger. Being brought up on a farm, most of our food was fresh . We didn't have a lot of sugary drinks and we only received two broken biscuits a day.
You must have used honey instead
We had honey occassionly.
