A Painful Break From WA
Being away from WA for 10 days so far is a painful experience; Ranking has gone from 73 t0 212.
I am attending Carifesta which is the largest festival of visual, literary and performing arts from the caribbean, South America and Canada; the festival is the x111 and is being held in Barbados this year;
The Venues are scattered all over the Island and some of the performances overlap which has been the subject of several complaints.
It is virtually impossible to do justice to the festival and still devote time to WA; but after seeing the big drop in ranking I have decided to steal a little time today
Organizing a festival of this magnitude is a massive responsibility and Barbados has made some significant errors, which has impacted the visual arts in particular.
The festival finishes on the 27th and we are left with 3 days to visit friends and family.
I am Longing to get back to business as usual.

It is great to see old friends again and pleasing to know that young people know the name Courtney Devonish even though I was off the Bajan radar for almost 30 years;
Yes it is Courtney. I am currently vacationing in Jamaica and it seems every time I make it back more and more people in the neighbourhood know of me, especially the young. I have to remember that I am from the countryside and people tend to remember you and your family more than in the city.
Harvey I have to ask about the Jamaica visual art exhibition Ihave not seen it as yet. Enjoy your holiday, I am yet to get to the neighborhood where I grew up; but I will do that before we leave.
Enjoy the Festival. Let go and relax. Nothing is perfect, except nature with his Fibonacci Code. Enjoy the time with family.
I am enjoying the festival but it is impossible to see and hear all the spectacular performances because of the scheduling, Haiti and Trinidad seem to attract the biggest audiences, but Guyana as a visiting country has a very large sculpture exhibition, most of the countries just have paintings. Barbados has predominantly abstract paintings and sculptures.
Sounds like you are having an excellent time with the festival Courtney, you will be looking forward to getting back to business.
I will take a little time for wa from now on, the sacrifice was too painful. It will have to be early mornings at the expense of my early morning walks on the beach and dip in the ocean, I am not a confident swimmer.
The comfort of routine is hard to beat, and what keeps us sane.
Finding that good middle ground our life preserver.

I face the same problem Codevonish with my rankings. I've never gotten as low as you have one day though. I'll keep on plugging away when I can.

Thanks I am enjoying Barbados except for the driving, too much traffic and the landscapes have changed; yesterday i spent one hour trying to find a venue and still failed; I had to follow someone to the venue in my car. That visit took all day as it was in a quiet plantation yard and very relaxing.
How is Barbados doing? As for taking a break from WA I feel your pain. Was 116 now 619, feels a little like starting over a bit.
