"I'm working full-time on my job and part-time on my fortune. But it won't be long before I'm working full-time on my fortune. . . can you imagine what my life will look like?"

- Jim Rohn

That's my new profile description now.

Check it out.

View my profile.

No more long descriptions. lol

Here's what happened...

I was thinking of changing my bio, what to put on my profile, something that's short and simple but very profound.

You know, like many others here, I have changed or edited my profile here maybe a hundred times already. Whenever I change niche, the profile changes too! lol

Just recently, after reviewing the lessons in the bootcamp, after watching the videos by Jay, and after browsing the websites of the Vegas qualifiers, I finally gave in to the mission of making reviews and offering WA as a better opportunity.

Previously, I hesitated to take that route because, I came from network marketing and still have friends in that industry. Most of them, their view of Wealthy Affiliate is something not good, for the reason that our reviews here have hurt their business a lot.

I can feel that whenever I participate in blog comments syndication in Facebook groups, I feel like I am being avoided. (Hey, here comes the affiliate from Wealthy Affiliate! Let's leave him alone)

So, for months, or even years, even if making reviews is a faster way to get the eyes of the search engines, I hesitated to follow Kyle, not doing reviews. But that changed recently, after reviewing the lessons and understanding the purpose why they were designed to be like that.

As a result, I changed niche again, now focusing on being an "online money making coach".

Now, here's the hard part... but not really hard:

I noticed those people doing great with that strategy, they all make things simple. I mean, nothing fancy. They just review things as if they are teenagers looking for ways to earn extra income online, fell a victim to some scams until they found Wealthy Affiliate.

That may look so simple, but boy, that works!

And this is important... very important... that needs to be understood by anyone who wants to work things out in the WA Affiliate Bootcamp. Sometimes, with our different backgrounds before entering WA, our background is putting an influence in the way we write our blog posts...

And that may hold you back. Beware.

When you're a doctor of Divinity, when you have doctorate degree or Masters degree in some advanced studies, or if you have technical background in some X-files type of scientific job, it is sometimes hard to discern and go as low as these teenagers have gone in viewing WA as a simple business.

The advanced words usually are surfacing in the content.

When advanced or weird words start to appear in the content, and what you're promoting is as simple as WA Affiliate Bootcamp, readers usually find it weird and frightening. End result is, not as good as these simple people are getting---consistent qualifiers in Vegas for 2 or 3 consecutive years.

Browse their blogs. They use simple words.

Don't let "deep words" from John Maxwell or Stephen Covey fuse into your content like you're using theology words in your WA income opportunity reviews. For it might scare off your readers!

(And not just words, but deep thoughts as well, like I'm doing here! lol)

Ever heard of Network21? That training group in Amway who uses Maxwell's materials and other MBA-grade near-theological-lessons in training their distributors who in real life will just be selling liquid kitchen soaps?

Something like that.

Maybe this is the reason why, I have friends who are deep thinkers, friends who are highly intelligent, after attempting to work out WA Affiliate Bootcamp, sent me a message after few months telling me they have stopped working the bootcamp and just settled on preaching the gospel inside WA.

There's nothing wrong preaching the gospel here, as that may save a lot of souls of WA members. Amen to that.

But it saddened me to hear that friend so-and-so have abandoned promoting WA Affiliate Bootcamp in their sites, they changed niche to something not "business-oriented". And it also rings to me as a warning, that I risk going in the same direction if I didn't learn how to unlearn and re-learn.

How do I unload these deep thoughts inside my brain and think like a teenager again? How do I go down and make myself as simple as when I was just starting out and learning online business?

Well, that was a personal challenge that I think I am the only one who can solve. I've tried posting it here as a question, no one ever bothered to answer.

"This Gomer is getting confused again", others may have thought. lol

But then, not confused, really. It just a matter of self-examination and adjusting.

Soon, I will be like those teenagers, or simple dads and simple moms, who just want simple goals of making a living (or making a fortune!) with WA Bootcamp to support the family.

Simple, and yet powerful (when worked out properly).

Do it like a teenager learning about WA for the first time.

Okay, that's it.

Did I touch your thoughts with this one?

Easy, simple fifth grade level reading seems to work the best.

Right. Make it simple, don't complicate things with words. For after all our aim is to be understood. Communication is giving the message clearly as we could and if we use words difficult to understand we might be losing traffic and conversions.

Ok. Think like a teenager. That may be hard to re-learn but I will try my best. Coach Gom - where do you find the websites of the Vegas qualifiers? Maybe we shouldn’t re-invent the wheel and just model what they’re doing.
Deep thoughts indeed but great thoughts to share. In simple terms... cool! :-)

Our friend Jerry Huang compiled them in one blog post. Here's the link:

Thank you much!!

Hey, great post! WA is a job. As a retired Pastor of 22 years, I use my knowledge to help people out with the problems they are having here at WA.

Is that not what we are to do here at WA, help each other, and in promoting WA, we are also helping people who need extra money or desire to work from home. One complements the other!

Keeping your message simple is the best approach

Nice Gom!

Wayne

Yes coach you are right as I told very simple their blogs but direct to the point no any beautiful words and even their website so simple because it depends to the readers. Simple thoughts but convincing. So simple people looking for opportunity online catches attentions.

You touched my thoughts and connected with me and deeply moved me. My mantra is Keep It Simple. Even doing that, there are still so many complexities. I love your quote from Jim Rohn.

Write for your audience. It’s as simple as that.

But do you know who your audience is? Do you know who you want them to be?

I’ve delivered presentations and prepared written products for many different kinds of audience. Hundreds of thousands have seen me speak in person; still more have read my work in different settings.

I don’t retain the same style of communication for each job I do. I adapt to what’s needed and asked for. Because that’s what professionals do, and because YOU are now also a professional, you’ll learn to do the same! You’ll research your market, and give them exactly what they need.

So... who is your particular audience? What do you know about their preferred communication style? How will you address that?

Wow, that's a good tip! Thank you. :)

I think I heard that from Jay in the webinar. About the person you're talking to. That avatar.

Thank you.

Oh, wait! May I ask, do you have any tips on how to master adaptation? I mean, easily adapting to what kind of audience is in front of you.

Several days ago, I went to this birthday party of a little girl. In the party, I noticed the clown, and pondered how hard it is for that grown up man to act in front of the crowd to suit his audience mostly composed of children. And of course, to please the parents watching him.

Isn't it the same with our work here? Like for example, a philosophy man who used to discuss theories like those of Karl Marx or Adam Smith (Wealth of Nations) with college students, so serious that ordinary individuals will have to bleed their brains just to phantom what is being said...

...then after the class, login here in WA Affiliate to do reviews on the latest paid to click scams or HYIP.

Honestly, it's really hard travelling quickly to a new dimension, from Pluto to Earth in minutes!

Lol, you’re funny.

Before a live audience, I find it much easier to swiftly adapt my communication style than on the page. There’s a constant feed-back loop to let you know when people are engaging or tuning out. You can think on your feet while presenting.

In those situations, where interaction is possible, I also normally use the first 5-7 minutes to ask questions. First about the audience, then about the topic. This is usually all I need to assess where the audience is with its understanding on a topic, how fast they may or may not keep up, and what register of language they prefer. I mirror back, while angling for learning outcomes.

On the page, situations differ. I will never get to see all the people who read my work. The feed-back loop is slow. And if a style-guide hasn’t been provided during the writing process, I need to make a good many assumptions about what’s required based on the existing audience of my publisher, and what’s gone before me. A round of editing may yield some new insights.

But as a sole trading entrepeneur, you need to be your own reader, writer and editor. Working out your register will be part of your niche research. You are cultivating a relationship with a segment of a community of interest.

- What’s their typical profile?

- Who do they follow and look up to? How do these people talk?

- What other blogs or publications do they typically read? Can you borrow the style of these writers to assume a familiar voice for your crowd?

- When you gather in the same places as your audience, do you observe certain kinds of slang or language being used?

Mirror that. Mirror all these things.

Or, if you are especially daring and confident, develop a bold and inimitable style of writing that helps to define a new niche of advice which is all your own. Like say, a rapper who gives finance advice.

Ok, I also forgot to answer your question about how to shift gears.

I don’t have a good answer for this, I’m afraid! You’ll get better at it with experience. Try to think of yourself as an actor at times, assuming unique roles. Imagine those roles fully forged and just grow into them.

Okay. Thanks. This thread and exchange of messages is already a complete lesson in itself.

I need more coffee. :)

interesting and very true. keep it simple ....

I don't know about being a teenager but I'd like to be in my 20s again (knowing what I know now of course) lol

Maybe I have exaggerated. lol

But thanks for the comment. And it's true. 20s is better, as you know better with that age. :)

too soon we get old .... too late we get smart

Exactly! lol
