Who's ready for blast off? The count down is on! In the US, Thanksgiving is just days away, the official start of the Christmas shopping season - BLACK FRIDAY! Who's ready? Ok, I know. Christmas sales started around Halloween, but that's not the point! This year, is like nothing we've ever experienced. No matter where you are, that Covid thing is still ruling our world. I know we've all had enough, but - and not to be mean or ugly - the old saying is that in chaos, there is opportunity. A

In the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy learned that she had the way to get home all throughout her adventures in Oz with those beautiful ruby slippers. No, they weren't Manolo or Jimmy Choo shoes. But they had a special kind of magic that she was not aware of... until the end of the movie when the Glenda the Good Witch told her how to use the shoes to get home. Just click your heels together three times and say 'There's no place like home!" Oh! If it was just that easy!!!But you don't know what you

Hurricane Sally has landed directly on my son, Christopher. He is based in Pensacola with his wife for his assignment with the Navy. She moved there while he was deployed, knowing that was the next destination for them. He just returned from a seriously extended deployment due to corona less than a month ago. Heck of a welcome! The video they showed me early this morning, was seriously scary. Good thing that palm trees are fairly flexible. It seemed that the trees outside their windows w

to succeed around here?!There are 8 simple words to succeed in the wonderful world of WA:1. Work - this will take some effort on your part. This is one of those 'must be present to win' kind of things.2. Learn - follow the lessons. Do the exercises. These people know what they are doing! But you have to be open to it. Open your mind. Open your heart. Open yourself to the incredible things that await you as you continue.3. Patience - You're learning something new. Give yourself a

Hard to believeit was just a year ago, that I wrote one of my first blogs honoring the Wizard of Oz and the Tin Man. The piece was based on a line from a song by the group 'America', "Oz never did give nothing to the Tinman, that he didn't already have'. (I dug it up and the original follows this.)The basic thought behind the piece was that each of us already has all that we need to succeed. We just have to reach into our hearts and believe.Testing the theoryI think we could all agree that

One of my sports heros is Babe RuthYou don't have to be a baseball fan (but I am) to admire the great Babe Ruth. The Great Bambino, Sultan of Swat, born George Herman Ruth, Jr., in 1895 in Baltimore, Maryland, One of eight children born to his working-class German parents. Young George had a troubled childhood and youth. His parents didn't have much time for him and he grew up mostly on the streets. In 1902, his parents sent him to St. Mary's Industrial School for Boys, in Baltimore, an as

the world shifted again!Grandson Jack has started kindergerten! Quite an exciting adventure for a young man! We didn't know until a few days before if they would actually have school, go with on-line education or if they would be holding virtual school where he had been going to daycare.I'm kind of a planner, so it was driving me nuts, but nothing to do but let go and what ever happened, happened. We would figure it out.Day-care - bless their heart - came up with a way to have the kids do vi

Everybody likes to know that they matter. We need to know that we have value in people's lives. We make a difference. What we do is noticed. One of the things I appreciate about my adventures within the Wonderful World of WA is that Kyle and the powers that be have set up a great way to let members know that they are on track and that what they are doing matters.I lit up the computer today to find that I've gotten a new recognition badge for 12 months of membership. Ok, it's not going to save
