A cup o' tea

A nice cup of tea is one of the most sublime experiences you can enjoy.

I'm not a coffee drinker. Except for the occasional glass of iced vanilla foo-foo latte from that oh, so over-priced Seattle-based, can't turn a corner without running into it, ... I really don't like the stuff. It's way too bitter for my taste.

Tea, on the other hand... subtle, fragrant, relaxing. And the right cup, made the right way...dare I say close to heaven. Tea - I can drink all day! When I was little and not feeling well, mom would always make tea, with a hint of sugar and touch of cream. Who knows, maybe I like tea so much because of those memories.

Tea has been around seemingly forever. The story goes that around 2732 B.C., in ancient China, Emperor Shen Nung discovered tea. "when leaves from aa wild tree bew into his pot of boiling water. He was immediately ilnterested in the pleasant scent of the resulting brew, and drank some."

Ahhh, fate and serendipity!

Since Emperor Shen Nung's first cup, the humble tea leaf has become so much more than a happy accident. Japan has turned the drinking of tea into an art form with the tea ceremony, turning a humble cup of tea into so much more. If you ever see it, you will be in awe.

Since that first cuppa, Portugese, Dutch, and British merchants and traders shared tea with peoples around the world, making tea a commoditiy and intertwining tea throughout the history of many countries and cultures. Tea even played an important role in U.S. history. Tea is synonymous with Britain as much as Buckingham Palace.

Tea is made from barks, herbs, leaves, flowers and fruits. Hot tea, iced tea, unsweet tea and the Southern staple, sweet tea, it's amazing how much tea is consumed world wide in such a variety of flavors and manners. There are so many types of teas. Not everybody likes tea. Not everybody likes the same tea. Some folks are herbal tea fans without caffeine. Some folks like a deep, dark, caffeine-rich brew.

But here's the point... and yes, there is one!

Not everything is everybody's 'cup of tea'! I know I'm not. There are folks who like me. There are folks who like my writing. There are folks who don't. I'm cool either way. I don't mean to be mean, I just don't live for the happiness of others. I appreciate positive comments and critiques intended on helping me become a better writer and better at being an affiliate marketer. Snarky, mean, rude comments I can do without. They don't contribute anything to helping me grow and develop as a writer or marketer and they don't contribute to the spirit of community that we used to enjoy in the Wonderful World of WA.

Here's to the spirit of community and camaraderie. Stay safe and stay well.

Hi Christine,

I would like a cup of tea. I like herbal tea without caffeine with a bit of sugar. I am not a coffee lover myself except for the occasional iced latte with caramel and whipped cream.

Absolutely everyone will not like you but some will. In relation to the comments, we all appreciate the kind and constructive ones. The negative ones, I thank the givers and move on. If they keep at it, I will just delete their comments.

Cheers to community and camaraderie! Be careful and be safe!
Wishing you the very best!

Kind regards,
Nichola

I gave up trying to please everybody long ago. I just don't do snarky & mean. Life's too short! Thanks for checking in. It's always great to hear from you! Hope all is well where you are!
Christine

You are so right. Thank you! You are welcome. Yes we are doing well all things considered.

I always told my kids that now everyone will like them and that's ok. My youngest is STILL a people pleaser though and that has it's consequences.

Everyone is different and that's ok as well. I don't WANT to be the same as everyone else. I DO like coffee but give it up every year for Lent even though I'm no longer Catholic. It's just my way of saying "Thank You" So, I'm currently drinking tea which I also like but not as much as coffee. :-)

We each have to do what is best for us without hurting others. You're right -- snarky, mean and rude serve no purpose at ANY time.

Stay safe!!!

I agree with you 100%, Debbi!

BTW I love Coffee too, much more so than tea--but to each their own!

We are a COMMUNITY!

Stay safe!

Jeff

You're always on my side, Jeff (my first born's name as well AND my favorite fathers). OK, he was my ONLY father but still hung the stars and the moon!

In any case, I think you're just trying to avoid the "mother look". LOL

~Debbi

Not me, Debbi! 😲

Thanks for sharing, Debbi! I've tried to teach my kids that they are ok, just as they are. My favorite saying is 'if you don't pay my bills, I'm not beholden to your opinion.' It's helped the kids keep things in perspective. I just never learned to drink coffee - or really beer for that matter. But tea... yep! Can drink it all day

I've had a few folks get snarky of late. I have no time or patience for it. I'm happy to agree to disagree and can do it in a respectful manner without getting personal. Wish others could as well. Ugh~!! Thanks for sharing part of your day with me. It's always great to hear from you.

Stay well! Christine

I like this!!!!! My favorite saying is 'if you don't pay my bills, I'm not beholden to your opinion.'

It's kind of snarky, but it sure keeps things in perspective for me. You're welcome to use it! C

Good evening Christine,

Just now when I am reading your post the last beverage of the evening is a Rooibos tea. I start my day with a green tea with vanilla. At around 11.00 a little coffee with coconut milk to be followed by my booster coffee at 16.00. During the day many glasses of healthy water. As you can see lots of liquid during the day.
Stay safe and healthy.

Greetings from the south of Spain,

Taetske

Sounds like a good way to go through the day. Hope all is well there! Hugs from San Antonio! Christine

Christine,
First I would like to say how refreshing it is to read about something other than the virus.

I don't care for products from that Seattle based company either. To me their brews are too strong and tear up my stomach.

I enjoy coffee every now and then but my go to drink is unsweetened black iced tea. It's a pure leaf done right. Except for the caffeine, it is zero everything else.

I actually prefer this to a nice cold bottle of water most times. Now how strange is that.

Thank you for the refreshing post.

Barbara

Thanks for checking in, Barbara. It's always great to hear from you. I appreciate your sharing your day - and your cup of.... with me!

Christine

You're very welcome, Christine!
I guess you can say I
I'll share my tea with you. No one has to know mine is in a bottle. 🤣

I'm a strange mix, Christine - I'm a Coffee AND tea drinker. 🤔

Once in a while, I'll drop by that Seattle-based company that you mentioned, for a simple black coffee on my way to work. But I might have to wait on the barista to fix this customer's venti latte, extra hot, half-decaf, with half-whole milk, one-quarter non-fat, two packets of splenda, a touch of vanilla syrup, 3 sprinkles of cinnamon, and the little twirly trick they do with the whip topping at the end for about 3500 calories!

In contrast - there's tea, which I enjoy most mornings during my journaling and quiet meditation, or before I head out on my commute.

I hope you're staying well and safe!
Isaiah 😊

Wow, Isaiah! I felt like for a moment you were describing a Braums shake or something!

Jeff

You wouldn't believe the drinks they make nowadays at Starbucks! ☕️

I can only imagine! It's crazy, my friend!🙄

That's funny! Half the time, when I'm at that Seattle place, I haven't got a clue what people are ordering. Thanks so much for the smile and for checking in. It's always great to hear from you. Stay well, dear friend!
