In the level two Certification Course, Kyle shows how to set up email. I have followed the video 4 times with no success. I create atmail account but get no mail when I run a te

I have some troubles with forwarding, too!

I'm having trouble with this too. I'm going to put in a support ticket. I can create an email, but not the forward. And I also can't get into my email. It keeps saying my username or PW is wrong. I think there's a technical glitch for some of us.

If you find out how to fix the problem let me know. I am curious about why I am having problems with this.

I just tested mine, so it's working for me. Did you write the email address correctly? I received the email instantly, so time should not be a problem.

Sure hope I wrote it correctly. I checked it many a time. Wondering if giving different one to domain registry would have any affect?

Hm. PM me your email address and let me send you something.

HI Natnaniell, PM has been sent

Hi Nathaniell, yes to both questions... have tried email over the course of several days and still nothing. So, the account is set up correctly, then the problem lies elsewhere....hmmm.... wish I knew more about computers and websites... maybe it is a problem specific to the website theme I chose?

There may be a slight delay in receiving emails. After creating your account, are you able to log in? When you create a forward, can you see it listed there in the email address section?

If you are seeing these things, then it's set up correctly.

received your email. Sent reply... but it is still "connecting" It has been several minutes....

Have you tried just making a forward and just dealing with mail via your regular inbox? If you use Gmail, you can send email from a different address, right in your gmail inbox. I actually can't find the send button and have never used the domain mail from atmail. Here's a training for linking your gmail to your domain email https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/how-to-send-receive-domain-email-via-gmail

or this one https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/use-gmail-to-check-and-send-domain-email

Thanks for the training links. I have saved them and will check em out tomorrow. I'll set up a gmail for my website and see if that does the trick. Once again thanks for the help.

I have received an email from wordpress telling me I have a ping back waiting my moderation. I kind of sort of know what a ping back is, but what do I do about "moderating" it?<

I just received a trackback but I deleted it and unchecked the two boxes that Nathaniell mentioned.

I have done the same Success Inc. I am glad I asked about this. Everyone has been very helpful.

You can also turn them off by going to Settings > Discussion and unchecking the box that says "Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks)". I also uncheck "Attempt to notify any blogs linked to from the article " just so I don't waste other people's time when I link to them.

Thanks Nathaniell. I have turned both off.

I think the majority of us just delete them, it's simply an alert that someone has linked to your site, if you approve them then your site shows a link back to theirs, which can often be something less than stellar. http://codex.wordpress.org/Introduction_to_Blogging#Pingbacks :) Rich.

Thanks Rich. Great advice. I will check out the WP intro

How can I activate the link button in wordpress? I would like to use it but when I click on it nothing happens.

G'day Clenderfoot. Did you resolve the link problem, as I am having the same issue.

What's going on today?

Hi Diedre, just trying to link my email address in my about me section of my web page, and the link button isn't highlighted and won't activate to allow me to finish the final setup.

Okay...highlight the whole phrase...make sure it's all highlighted blue. Then, we are going to click on the chain link to INSERT/EDIT LINK.
A box will pop up. Delete what's in the first box.
PASTE YOUR LINK.
ALWAYS OPEN IN A NEW PAGE.
Save.
PUBLISH.
Now, VIEW POST!

Hi Diedre, yep tried that. Still doesn't work. For some reason my edit/link button isn't bold, therefore I can't activate it, even when I highlight my email address. I notice in Kyle's training that he just clicked the start of his email address and it highlighted the entire URL. Mine doesn't do that. I have to manually highlight the URL before I click on the edit/link button, so maybe this is the problem?

Mine isn't dark either...it's a light gray. The only way the button will work is if the text is highlighted. Please give me your link...I want to see...

We are going to do this right now...

Hi Deidre, here is my link.

darren@worldwaronehistoryandbooks.com

Thanks...okay, hang on!

I meant the url you want us to end at...so please send your site url and where in the site is the part you want to link...LOL!

Hi again! My URL is worldwaronehistoryandbooks.com/wp-admin. I'm trying to link my email address on my About Me page at the bottom.

Thanks for your help!

Your killing me..that's your login and password page. Hang on...let me crop something...

Okay...I believe you want the address to be mailto:darren@.......

Don't want to do that! Guess what, I just went back into it and it's working now! Thanks for your help on this, you can rest easy now!

Ok...cool! I am going to wait a few minutes and check it out.

It's all good to go! Funnily enough, the link button was bold this time, which is why the link worked. Not sure what happened here, but thankfully it's all good now, and I can continue on!

Helps to highlight first...LOL!

Honest, I highlighted the thing a million times. Sometimes computers can be temperamental.....

Make sure you're highlighting the text you want to link first. Sometimes, a sensitive mouse can unhighlight the words and when you click the link, it won't work. So watch it carefully as you're doing the ink.

I tried deactivating my plug ins and reactivating them but my link button still won't work, Can anyone help please?

First, are you highlighting the text you want to insert with your link?

I'm highlighting the text and then the image. Neither worked.

Hello...again...how are things now?

I think I got that fixed. Now my edit page is good but when I view the page it's all out of place and the lines are not straight like they should be. Any suggestions?

Can I see your link? Just copy and paste...thanks!

My link is http://makingalivingfromhome.siterubix.com

I see your site is up and running...that's half the battle! Okay, I see the words are jumbled...You're special because I have never seen that before! Are you certain you don't have extra spaces in there? Have you tried to backspace and/or delete? I am really hoping that helps because it hard for us to imagine what is really going on...know what I mean? I want to know...

Hahahaha!!! I'll let you know when I figure it out. Yep!!! I'm special alright!!!

LOL...

Hey sweet girl!!! I did it!!! Hallelujah!!! I realized that shortening the sentences to make it look like I wanted it to was what was causing it. I rewrote it with full-length sentences and it worked. I've still got a lot of work to do on it but that nightmare is resolved. Thanks so much for your help!!!

WHEW! I can breathe now! YAY! Keep going! LOL!!!

Thanks Daniel, I was doing it backwards I appreciate the help.

If you have some words that you want to link to an external page or link to another page within your site, you need to highlight the words first and then click on the 'insert link' button on the first row.

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of my search button in my website? I don't need it for the moment and it is hogging space.

Some themes come with a search bar and you can't get rid of it without editing the code.. Definitely try what Tommy said though, that works a lot of the time.

Hi Nathaniell, I think I am stuck with it. I need code... I thought I found the code actually, but I didn't want to mess with it. I am way to novice to mess with that. thanks for the reply

In the dash board go to your widget tab and click on the widget you do not want on there on the right side of the page just click on it and drag it off and drop. To add one do the opposite pick a widget from the center and click and drag to the right side.
I hope this was helpful

boo hoo....I need code I think...tried it several times before starting this discussion.

Thanks for reply Tommy wish that woulda worked. I thought that that search widget mighta been for something else, anyway I move it and nothing happens. Thanks for your suggestion.

I gave you the same suggestion earlier. I tried this in my website and it worked. What is your theme?

Actually, that search button is very helpful for your viewers. They can use it to search for something within your website. I personally won't remove it from my website because it helps. If our viewers couldn't find what they want EASILY they will simply leave our sites. That's why we have the search button. Hope this will help you think more about it.

Tommy, I wonder if this is theme dependent.

Don't know which one he is using i use Pagelines platform and removed it from mine.

I use obandes and it works for me, too. I am just wondering if other themes don't allow this.

Hi everyone. I have my first ever website blog up. I would be ever so grateful for some critiques. Please don't hold back. I would like to make improvements and would be glad to

Thank you kws I appreciate you taking a look. Thanks very much for the kind words.

Your passion for the subject is obvious, if I was a bike enthusiast I would definitely keep an eye on your site. Very well written.

I'm getting "Error establishing a database connection". Check with Support on this. (but maybe it's just at my end)

thank you for letting me know Chris. Not sure what to do on this I can't even get past my admin page.

What do you mean?

btw if you're ever stuck go over to LiveChat or a relevant classrooms and ask there. That's the beauty of WA! :)

when I click on the admin page it takes me directly to error message

That's a hosting issue! Contact support asap! They'll sort it out :)

Issue is resolved. Yeah!

Awesome! :)

Hi - I've had a look at your site Well done for getting it up and running. A couple of points.

Images - others have already mentioned these. You ought to always have captions - otherwise there's no point in them being there You might find this useful https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/bis/blog/tips-for-making-your-website-images-count-infographic

Style: You have a great writing style and already have a unique voice. Just make sure that you don't let that smother the stuff you're trying to tell people eg. Let the Journey begin. I had to read this a couple of times to get WIIFM (What's In It For Me). If you hadn't asked for people to review it - I would have left the page. That's because there's quite a lot of meandering. There were no bullet points I could glance at or subheadings to make it easy to pinpoint the main points of the page.

Just something to be aware of . DO NOT under any circumstances - think that you should drastically change your style. You shouldn't, IT'S VERY GOOD!

Finally.... something I can sink my teeth into. Frank and effective, I like that. Thanks for the critique. I will take a look at your link. I literally know nothing about computers or web marketing, or web design; your help is invaluable to me. I understand your point about images, bullet points, and subheadings, its a matter of learning how. Thank you again.

*let you add*

Thanks Jangee I will do it now.

Hi Clenderfoot install the plug-in Ultimate TinyMCE. This will let you lots of extra formatting options - font size, font color, style etc.

Hi Clenderfoot - I really like the feel and appearance of your website - love the name too Peddlehead it's great. y son is a fellow cyclist but more into off road. I wondered if you could make the font size a big bigger? And perhaps add a few more images to break up the text. But so far it's looking good :0)

I would love to make the font bigger. I haven't figured out how yet. If you know how I would love to hear about it. Thanks for your kind words I really appreciate it.

I like the style of the site it kind of has an outdoorsy feel to it ideal for your niche. I don't know if you can but the highlights on the menu items would they look better the same colour as the background green? Worth experimenting?

Yes - that would make the menu items more distinctive - as you say well worth playing around and experimenting.

The site's looking good. I'm not sure if you did made your background image like that on purpose or if it just happened to look that way, but I like it. It's unique and makes it clear that your site is about biking (many people do not know what peddleheads are).

I would consider making your top menu just 1 line, so pick just 3 things that you want there, or see if you can get rid of the search bar. Doing that will give you more "above the fold" real estate, which means when people land on your site, then see more content, less menu. You can always put stuff you want to link to in your sidebar.

The use of images in your post was good - well space.

One suggestion for the future, is when you ask for feedback, maybe list a few things you are wanting to know. BIS wrote a great post on it here https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/bis/blog/what-feedback-do-you-want-decide-before-you-ask

This will give people more specific tasks to look for when critiquing your site, and you will probably get more, detailed responses.

Looking great! You've done a lot in very little time :)

Thanks so much for your feedback. Since there isn't much to search for anyway I will get rid of the search. Gonna have to look at background image again to see for sure what it is.... still fuzzy on language (again ...its always about the language) going to work on first article tomorrow. Thanks again for your feedback.

Good feedback information. Thanks for the post. I remember gong over the sandwich method in a course in a business communication class. I'd like to use the word criticism when I ask for people's help but for many that word is negative. Thanks again for your great support.

Looking good. You've done a lot of work on your site. I see that you have your Privacy Page in your sidebar and in the menu. You may want to remove it from the menu bar and keep it in the sidebar or even the footer. Taking it out of the menu will give you more space. Nice job. Left you a message.

Great suggestion, Rick. This is one of our lessons on privacy policy. If you forgot how to do it, just open your privacy policy page. On the lower right corner, you will find "Exclude Pages" below the Page Attributes. Just unclick the box beside "Include this page in lists of pages. That will exclude your privacy policy on your menu. Hope this helps.
