When You Don't Feel Like You Can Write, Just Start Writing

Over and over and over I keep realizing something.

Sometimes I have an idea for a post that I want to write about on my site, and I think "UGH, that's going to be WAY too hard. I don't know what I'm talking about. I don't know what I'm doing."

Has that ever happened to you?

I used to just forget about it and move on.

Now, I know how to combat it.

You just start writing.

And seriously, it's kind of magical. Words begin to appear on your screen.

Words that make sense!

You do a little research.

Come back and write some more.

This happened to me many times now, including twice today.

I'm working on a post that I KNEW was going to give me trouble. I thought "I'm not even going to have 200 words on this."

Now I'm over 500 words with plenty more to go.

What happens is you start to relax and the ideas start flowing.

And here's a big tip for you...

Use these related search terms to help you come up with subtopics and other things to write about:

These are things people are searching for, and should show up for pretty much every topic you search for.

That is all. :)

When I write a review about an Affiliate product I try to find questions that buyers have asked about the product or service and the I try to fix answers to those questions. Then I write about the solution to those questions/problems others have had.

Doing that gives me more than enough to write about.

Perfect! I love that.

I do the same thing, Christina. If I am "stuck" I just start writing. Sometimes I'm amazed at what comes out on the paper.

It is amazing! It's like it was all inside our brains waiting to come out. We just have to release it.

Hi Christina,

Thanks for sharing this important post. To get unstuck, I just begin writing and the ideas will begin to flow and your writing takes on a live of its own.

Much success to you!

Kind regards,
Nichola

Thanks, Nichola. That's exactly what happens to me. It's great!

Hi Christina,

I go look for keywords. Depending on the topic that might take 5 minutes or an hour. If I find a good one I save it and then go start a post on my site. I use that long tail keyword (all I use) for my post title and then save it as a draft. That way I have a bunch of these drafts ready to go later when I do have time to write.

You are right. Just write!

Jessica

That's a great idea! I love that.

Yeah, the good ol mental blocks and self-doubt.
I start now, then purposely get up and do something else for 30 minutes, maybe go for a walk and then bang, bang, bang all these ideas flood me.
Then I come back and start fresh.
Good luck.

Perfect! I always get out in nature for walks / runs - every day, rain or shine! And there's something to that. It definitely lets the ideas flow.
