Operation Vegas 2020: August Update

Happy September! September is my birthday month, so that's fun. But also the end of summer, which is sad. In a cruel twist of fate, my Mom had me on the last day of summer, which pisses me off every year. lol

August was kind of a hard month to focus. But, my kids are back in school so that should help a lot. The last weeks of August had them bored and walking around like zombies. haha

I really didn't do a ton on my site this month, and that's obviously not helping my traffic situation. That will change this month.

Let's get into it in more detail.

Things I Accomplished in August

• Removed the pop-up I created last month (trying to simplify my site for now...)
• Created an About Me page
• Wrote 10 posts

Yea, that's it.

Even though I only wrote 10 posts, I feel they were all really high quality and probably all close to or more than 2000 words.

One thing I've been doing is creating a wider variety of posts. Instead of all review posts, I'm using Dylan's MLM strategy, how to posts, and Wealthy Affiliate vs [Company] posts. I'm hoping these types of posts will bring in more traffic in the future.

I'll still be doing review posts for sure, but like Dylan mentioned, if you write all review posts from ClickBank products, that traffic dies off pretty quickly when the product is no longer relevant.

That's definitely what has happened to my traffic!

While I only got 10 posts out in August, I aim to at least double that in September. Time to get back on track!

You can see everything is just going down. This business is not all sunshine and roses all the time. It's so up and down sometimes!

Again, I think this is due to a couple of good review articles that were at the top of Google that are either no longer relevant or less relevant and therefore that traffic has died down.

I've got to get my newer articles up there.

(My husband and I were at a concert last night, and I had to take a pic from my phone on the way back, so the formatting is a little different.)

My referrals are way down (of course because of the traffic situation), but my sales and commissions are up, which is great.

The yearly sale amount was also approved, so this month's sales are actually $332.50.

It's nice to see the sales increasing every month, at least! Of course, I've gotta get the referrals back up to continue this trend!

I also got a payment ($15) for another mystery sale on my dead site. I'm about to open that site back up! lol

Plans for September

• Write at least 20 posts
• Get back on YouTube

I started working on another site, and I will a little here and there. But I've decided to focus all the energy and time I can muster into my current site for these next 4 months to see if I can get traffic going and more sales flowing.

A Couple of Cool Things That Happened

A couple of neat things happened this month.

First, Alex Nerney showed up to comment on a blog post where I reviewed one of his products.

(Alex Nerney runs Create & Go with his girlfriend Lauren. I do believe this is really him, because who would fake that? lol Also, the email address makes sense.)

Secondly, I got an email from Thrive Themes (maybe you did too?) saying they were looking for a Content Marketer and they were hoping to choose someone from their community.

I thought I would apply just for the heck of it. Turns out, more than 300 people applied, and I was picked to go onto round 2 and interview with them.

I had the interview and we'll see what happens with that. (If I happen to get that job, that could totally mess up my plans to focus for the next 4 months, but I'm not expecting it due to fierce competition.)

There's a round 3, but even if I don't go on to that round, I am amazed that I was chosen out of 300+ people to go to round 2!

In order to apply, you had to send 3 pieces of content that you were proud of.

It gave me a boost of confidence that my writing is decent. :)
