Good News, Bad News
Well, I see our blog posting area has changed. I think that belongs in the good news section. This is pretty nice!
Anyway...
The good news is that my site seems to be gaining traction with the number of daily visitors it's getting.
- In January, it received about 10-20 vsitors per day. (Except one day when one of my blog posts was tweeted out by someone with a big following.)
- In February, it got about 20-25 visitors per day.
- This month, we're looking at about 30-50 per day, with a couple of days closer to 80.
So, we are growing pretty steadily.
The bad news is that my bounce rate is also growing. It's at 85%! Yikes! I did read an article that said it's not always a bad thing to have a high bounce rate. Sometimes it just means that the person came looking for something, found it and was satisfied. But 85% is pretty high.
Also, the time people are staying on my site is under a minute. Eek! That seems really low!
The good news is that people love reviews! All of my posts with reviews are ranked nicely in Google and have high click through rates. (I'm referring to the click throughs from Google to my site.)
The bad news is that they mostly don't result in sales. I have one post that has had some sales, but that's about it so far.
So, these are the ups and downs of my site. Overall, I'm happy with the way things are going. I'm sure more sales will come as I gain more visitors. I will not be deterred by high bounce rates. I'll just take a look at what I'm doing and see how I can improve.
I'm having fun doing this, and I think that's the best news of all!
How are your websites going? How is your growth going? Are your sites still growing in traffic, or have they leveled off? How long did it take you to get from 0 to where you are now?

It does sound like you're having fun. That's great. Good news...you are in control and can improve upon the bad...which doesn't sound all that bad to me. Nice job.

Yeah, normally the click through rate is clicking from your article to the merchant so they can buy something.
Start playing around with some things. That is a high bounce rate and coupled with the short time on page, I would say it is more that they are not finding what they expected. Start with the page with the highest bounce rate and tweak the copy there. see what that does to your results.
My visitor rate is at around a 1000 a month which I am happy with but most of it comes from pinterest. My Organic is what I consider low at 18% but my bounce rate is also around 80%. I have no idea why but need to work out why. If anyone has a solution I am happy to learn ?

Hi Karen! Your visitors and my visitors sound alike! I guess just keep trying different things and different styles of content and see what sticks? It's all experimental. :)

You'll get there - I just read a post from littlemama, here on WA, that nearly into one here of her website she is getting over 700 visitors per day. Read here New Traffic High: 747 Visitors A Day! Anyways, on my side - my website is not generating much traffic, around 2-3 visitors daily :) - sadly not much. My bounce rate is at times 100% but mostly 50%. I have not made any sales so far. So I'm hoping for the best and keeping the faith.

How old is your site? If it's brand new, then people just haven't found it yet. I'm finding that once I write an article, sending it out to Twitter, Facebook, etc is helping. Pinterest seems especially good for whatever reason.
