Are you afraid of success?

I am.

I know most people are afraid of failing. I'm afraid of succeeding.

I guess when I think about being successful, I get overwhelmed. What about taxes? How can I help ALL my customers? Do I need to hire employees? How do I do that??! I don't want to be a boss!

Eek!

I know that I HAVE to change my mindset around this if I ever want to be successful.

Does anyone else have these thoughts? How do you combat them?

I think about success in a similar fashion to how I consider happiness. They are different things to different people. I was taught by my father that every morning you wake up healthy, you are a success. Hence I have so far had a successful happy life, sometime with little money and other times with more.
What you appear to be concerned about is problems caused by having more money. Believe me, such problems are very easy to grow into.

You're absolutely right about everything. As usual! Just gotta grow into it all. I'm willing to try it! haha

We are here to help each other grow.

Success will be easy to get used to. The solutions to the issues you mentioned will be revealed at the appropriate time. Yes you can be the boss. You are the boss right now working on your own site. I would rather plan my days than have someone plan them for me. When you are the boss you set the tone for those around you. Be a role model. Then later on hire a trustable executive assistant and delegate.
That’s my thoughts on the issue. Take a moment now and hug a kitty and do something green for the environment.
Trevor

Great advice, thank you so much! I'm going to go hug all of my kitties right now! lol.

Yup, I sure do. All the time. It's hard to say, sometimes, whether it's fear of success or fear of failure. They seem to be two sides of the same coin. It's kind of like you really don't want to make any waves either way in case (a) you fail; (b) you succeed. In either case, you change, you become a different person. And that's scary. That's how I see it, anyway. Interesting question, glad you posted it.

Yup, that's exactly it! You have to become a different person. It's exciting and scary all at the same time.

To our success!

Yes, you two. One thing, we have a great bunch of people here who are all very helpful. So, good luck to you and I know you'll be a success if you follow the path outlined in these courses here. There's so much enrichment material here, as well, videos, extra lessons, blogs, you name it, it's almost too much. But it's great!

Agreed! I learn so much here every day. Not just from the trainings, but also from the community!

Fear of success is very common. You are not alone. Success brings fears of being able to maintain that success too. All the fears you mention are real. In order to combat that fear of success you have to train your brain for success. Accept what success means and be prepared and organised for it.
The more prepared you are for success and all that it means then the more you will welcome it into your life and work.
If you are not mentally prepared for what success means then you will repel it.
Not everyone is ready for success. Some get it but lose it just as quickly because they were not mentally and practically prepared for it.
Work daily on your mindset. Read motivational books. Learn to work through your fears and analyse them.
Changing your mindset will not happen overnight.
Read Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. It, along with other books made a big difference to my mindset.
With Grace and Gratitude

Thank you Karen! I know you're right. I am obsessed with self-development books, and they absolutely help. The one I'm listening to now made me write this post. (It's called "The One Thing" by Gary Keller.)

I just feel so much that I'm moving closer and closer to success. (Although, what does that even mean?) I can feel it so much, and my results are slowly but surely moving in that direction.

I think I'll be ready for it because it's coming slow and steady. I'd rather it move a little faster though. haha. I can handle it, Universe!

Thanks again!

To combat them, you just need to ignore them or accept them with repeatedly telling them not to be fearful about tomorrow that is just a promise but to be in the now moment. Much blessings. Edi

Yes, perfect reminder. Be in the now. Be in the now. I know it'll all work out. Everything always works out how and when it needs to. Thank you!

Just been at it for so long I think the fear of success is a wall, if you let it be there ... we have to look on the other side of the wall ... reach for the vision ... cheers ... Michel

That's another wall that we don't need. (Trump jokes...) :)

- Christina

Opps ... forgot about that one ... thanks for pointing that out :-)

Just sit back and get going first! You can always keep good records and have an accountant do that for you. Or, learn to do it yourself. There are a lot of books out there on doing it and doing it right! :)

This is the stuff I can't STAND to think about. I like letters and words. I do not like numbers!

Ooops! Sorry, Christina. :(

So true! It took me a while to realize I felt the same way. I guess I combat them by trying to replace each feeling of doubt with one of expectancy and deservedness. I saw a great quote that said, "Someone has to be the champ...might as well be you." I thought that's damn right! Anyway just my 2 cents...hope that helps and thanks for sharing.

I love that quote! Thanks so much, that does help!

Think of your family Christina and all those loving cats to pet!

You're right. So right! They deserve my success!

I just dream or day dream about success and then deal with the other issues as they come up.

I have been "talked to" by the IRS once so I do make sure I take care of all the business stuff also.

Rick

I like the way you think. I'm definitely a "I'll worry about that when I need to" kind of person. That's probably the type of person that gets in trouble with the IRS though. lol
