2 Mini Milestones & My Best Trick for Getting Business Ideas

Last Update: July 13, 2019

(Isn't that picture just silly? I love it!)

I suppose a milestone is a milestone and I should probably stop calling them mini milestones. But, they're smaller goals on the way to bigger ones.

(Then again, when I get to the bigger goals, there will be even bigger goals to take their place. It just never ends, does it?)

I like Tiffany's milestone post today, and I liked how she talked about getting more milestones and that they are happening closer together.

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/tdomena/blog/new-milestone-1...

I believe that to be true for me too. Mine are just a bit further back than hers.

Mini Milestone 1 - 100 Email Signups

I recently started making email marketing more of a priority and it's something that I'll be working on even more.

I started off hating email marketing, which is DUMB because I used to be an email marketing manager. (Maybe that's WHY I hated it. lol) But I'm realizing how important it is, AND it's a key component of running things on autopilot if done correctly.

I don't know about you, but I like autopilot.

Mini Milestone 2 - $100 in WA Commissions

100 is my lucky number this month because I hit 3 digit commissions here with Wealthy Affiliate.

I can't wait to see how this grows in the coming months! I'm constantly thinking of a way to improve my messaging and draw more people in.

I also want to really find a way to be of the best possible service to my referrals and make sure they're succeeding as much as possible.

That's all for the milestones for now, but I have a lot of things I've been doing and working on and plan to work on and I'll update you on everything in my next Vegas 2020 post in August.

(Did I say how much I love affiliate marketing? All of this is SO MUCH FUN. Even when there are ups and downs. It's just so satisfying, I love it! I don't know why everyone in the world isn't in this business. lol)

My Best Trick for Getting Business Ideas

OK, this is maybe going to sound a little weird, but my best trick for getting business ideas is...

Running.

If you hate running, then getting outside for a walk, or a bike ride or doing some other form of exercise (preferably outside) will likely work.

Running works better than walking for me and I think it's because:

  1. The exercise is more intense so there's more oxygen and blood flowing
  2. I'm listening to my favorite music which gets me hyped

But whenever I'm out for a run, it's like ideas just flow so easily.

Have you ever had that experience when you exercise?

I usually have to stop and make some notes on my phone so I don't forget.

So not only is exercise good for your body, but it's good for your business too. Try it and you'll see! :)

(P.S. If you hate running, then it might not work because you'll be thinking "I hate this" the whole time. lol Find something that you enjoy doing!)

Until next time...

- Christina :)

P.S. When do you get your best business ideas? Let me know in the comments. I love hearing other ways of doing things!

You have said so much in this post that it is hard to just pick one good thing. But, what you said about finding "a way to be of the best possible service to my referrals and make sure they're succeeding as much as possible" strikes me as most important to true success. Helping others along the way has to be a key element in our efforts. So many members start and then quit somewhere along the way. Just thinking that the more we can help people succeed, the more successful we become.
Blessings

Yes, I totally agree. Help other to get what they want, and you'll get what you want. I forget who said that, but it's true!

Beachcombing and trail hiking for me. I look for shark's teeth and other fossils or artifacts on the beaches around here and there are miles and miles of trails to explore.

Hiking in the summer months can be a challenge due to the extreme temperatures. It's like hiking in a sauna but promotes thinking of cool niches. lol

Yes running here lately has felt like running in a sauna with molasses on the bottom of my shoes. I usually just walk then. :)

There's nothing better than walking on a beach!

hello cld111
congrats on the milestones big or small,
kick-starting my day with exercise is a key factor to my day and how it unravels, my best ideas come from 2 places and situations
1, sleeping and suddenly early morning a brain wave ,,,i am up have to write it down and unfortunately can't get back as the starts of several other associated thoughts
2. JOGGING OR DOING MY DIY WORKOUTS [ i am no longer a Gym goer, it's boring., so i design my workout schedules with chairs and tabletops and wall stretching etc..
this is as you have rightly said the extra oxygen seem to become a stimulating factor, a thinking therapy?

so it is working, why?
because the days i cannot exercise are the days i notice my work rate and effectiveness dips considerably?
,,,hummmmmm

I do wake up some mornings and ideas and thoughts start going. Sometimes I have to slow them down so I can fully wake up and use them! haha

I am not a gym goer either. I just like putting on my sneaks and going outside. But I love the idea of doing your DIY workouts. You could start a whole YouTube channel with those...

Love the synergy of exercise and ideas,
I live close to a beach (Brighton, busy during the day) early in the morning I just sit there listening to the waves, watching the early exercisers and the dog walkers, and absorb,
Think about ideas, and get my head together.
So I can see how running gets your brain working. No time for negative thoughts......

And a huge huge well done on your commissions, clicks and referrals. That is a massive milestone lady, you should be very proud. I am doffing my cap in respect...👍

Ahhh, you are lucky to live near a beach. There is nothing like the beach...

And thank you for your compliments. It's all starting to come together nicely!

Out in nature away from everyone is where I get my best ideas.

Aaww how i miss running. In my 20s i could do around 3 to 5miles a day..my copd wont let me anymore
I do still love hiking though and if i push myself i can easily do 3 to 4 miles..no small feat as i was diagnosed with copd over 25 yrs ago drs say i am not on oxygen yet because im so active LOL
As to your question..now a days with my life still in a bit of unstable turmoil most of my thoughts and ideas come late at night when it is just me and the dog after being around people all day.
By the way you are doing awesome!!

Hiking is still such a great form of exercise. Good for you getting out there and taking preventative measures for your copd.

Late at night is a good time too. Any time that's quiet is a nice time of day.

I don't hate running I actually enjoy it I need to do more of it. I have gotten some ideas from regular exercise.Since I am more focused on my exercise there isn't a lot of ideas coming to mind.

The two places the best ideas have come into my mind for business related things.

1. Outside in nature where I am in aw and the thoughts are running through my head more clearly. I am not thinking of nothing else but the moment. Especially when I am fishing one of my favorites.

2. Anytime I am out for a cruise in my car or working on my car this is why I take a lot of long drives through the country back roads. Whenever I do this the thoughts start to flow and the best ideas come then.

Email marketing is important from one of my videos I got a few hundred email subs. This is because of how it blew up and I wasn't expecting it to. I just put my landing page in the description box put a CTA (call to action). I kept getting subs to my email.

I hope you accomplish all the goals that you have set out to achieve.

Getting out in nature is so, so good. I like your idea about going for a drive too. I do get ideas when I'm in the car driving too sometimes. When there's not much else to think about anyway...

Interesting how you got so many subs from a video. When you say you put your landing page in the description box, you mean you put the link there and people clicked on it like crazy?

That's awesome!

Driving and nature are the two things I do the most to clear my head and get ideas.

As an example just say you have a video up in the video I put a call to action saying to check the description box out so you can see my number recommendation to work online (say something like that).

Put your landing page/optin page so whenever someone clicks to see your #1 recommendation to work online they will click and you get the email. That is if they decide to optin to the landing page.

I also put my blog post about the review in that area also so if they want to read they can.

The reason I don't only put a raw affiliate link or or just a blog post because if they click and they click away then you could lose out on a potential sale.

This is like most of us know most people don't buy on the first look at the product or program. They usually have to see the offer more than once in order to want to buy you know?

Another good thing to do in my opinion is if you have a landing page built on your site. Use that landing page because it can have the same effect as a regular landing page that most use if that makes sense?

This is where (like some know) email marketing comes into play and you can send them your blogs, videos, and your offer to WA or whatever you are promoting.

A simple call to action in your video can help out a lot.

This is also depending on the niche you are in since I do MMO this works best not sure about the rest.

I hope this helps some this is what I do I would experiment and find out what works best for you know?

OK, I thought that's what you meant but I wanted to clarify. I have just started to really promote my free e-book to get people onto my list, so this is something that I'll keep in mind for sure (putting the link to my e-book landing page in my YouTube description.)

Thank you!

Hi Christina,

Great stuff, congratulations on your milestones.

I will only run if someone is chasing me and that could explain a lot.

Thanks Christina and continued success,

Michael

Running is what does it for me too. My best ideas come to me either during a run or right after. I also like to listen to Jay’s lessons on replay when I walk. It is the perfect length of time for a walk and it keeps me company.

That's a really great idea to listen to Jay's replays while on a walk. I'll have to try that sometime. I usually listen to some sort of training and / or positive mindset stuff.

Interesting concept ... right now I'm in between building an online store for our boat shop, trying to sell a house, moving and leaving our kids (there over 20yrs old but they are still our kids) 800 miles away from where we are moving ... and with all of this being separated from my wife months at a time ... not an easy task but we'll get through it ... cheers ... That sounds like a lot that you're tackling. Like with anything in life, you just have to take it one step at a time.

Best of luck to you!

Excellent work with the walking. I absolutely love walking too. I do get ideas then too, but just more with running.

Exercise is so great for business, right? You get it!

I can't run much anymore due to knees, but I walk very fast with about a 5% incline right now which is good for me. I use my voice to text when doing this because I get ideas then. I also do it when walking outside. Then later I download it and edit.

I agree that mini-goals are important to build for sure.
Great article, and I know both Tiffany and you will go far. I see you both going to Vegas. FORWARD! :)

Fast walking at an incline is NO JOKE. I love walking too! I love it more than running, but running is a challenge that is nice to accomplish sometimes.

I love the voice recorder idea!

And thank you for your vote of confidence. I don't plan on giving up until I get to Vegas. :)

That fast walking is with a stent in my heart from 8/17. :) Exercise is what I have to do daily and my mini goal is 10,000 steps daily. so instead of being on the computer sitting all day, I walk every few hrs and also a lot of stretching between that.
I am motivated health wise and working on using that motivation towards my online business as well.
Take care,

Don't think of exercise as something you have to do, but something you GET to do. Especially with having a heart issue.

I love this business because i get to get up and take walks every couple of hours. I need to do that or else I go crazy. I do not belong in an office... lol

I'm glad you're using your health as your motivation for your online business. It's all connected...

Sometimes in the middle of the night. Im a night owl. I have to do exercises differently than you. I cant run but can run in my electric wheelchair. My best writing also takes place in the middle of the night more like 1 or 2am. That is when everything is quiet and no one can interrupt or bother me. I am also working on my email marketing. I am surprised you dislike it. I think thats better way to generate leads and an autoresponder to continuously follow up with prospects. Congratulations on achieving your milestone. Many more to come. Thanks for sharing this post with us.

Whatever works for you is what you should do!

I'm a morning person for the same reason. I'm usually up and downstairs by 5am. That's when it's quiet and I can write. I love it!

My husband is a night owl, so I get it. Sort of. haha I love the mornings, so I don't totally get it. :) But again, whatever works for you, right?
