Justice knocks on my door
I was working in the personnel office. One day I receive a letter document from a lawyer suing the company for an accident of a factory operator. This person had suffered serious cuts in one of his hands.
Factory personnel began their work shift at 6 AM. In most cases, accidents occur because operators fall asleep.
The machines are hydraulic presses were at least two people work, one on each side. The press being lifted an operator places the iron plate on the matrix. Then both operators pressing two buttons at the same time the upper part goes down.
All the machines had these safety mechanisms required by law.
Unfortunately, this operator had fallen asleep.
The labor lawyer of the company Mr. Volpi was a prestigious professional with a very successful career. We answered the demand to prepare us for the trial that would take place in the coming days.
He prepared me and told me everything the judges would ask me. The truth I did not understand and I still don't understand today how I knew what the judges were going to ask me.
He also told me before each question that the judges will answer me I just had to say:
"Yes it is true" or "It is not true"
Not one more word or one less.
The day of truth comes, I had the three judges in front of me at a higher height. The lawyers from both sides sitting back.
One of the judges asks me the first question, of the five that the lawyer had explained to me. It was not hard to remember them.
Mr. Ciganotto swears whether or not it is true that Mr. Mangone (operator) suffered an accident on April 3, 1987 at 07.45 AM?
My answer was swift. The truth I remember well is the date you say but the exact time the truth is not. The judges were satisfied with my answer and the second came.
I kept answering in the same way, my lawyer began to grab his head.
Until the last question came the fifth ..
It swears whether or not it is true that the Ford Falcon fender that you manufacture weighs 50.5 kg and is transported by one person.
When I begin to answer Mangone's lawyer who had been interrupting me earlier, he told the judges that I did not answer the questions. The man was really enraged, my lawyer continued to hold his head.
The angry judge goes to the crazy lawyer if you continue to interrupt Mr. Ciganotto I'm going to have to expel him from the courtroom, did you understand me?
Please, Mr. Ciganotto, continue with your response, the Judge tells me.
The fender to which you refer weighs exactly 7.5 kg and is transported within the factory between 2 people not by its weight but by its dimensions. The questions are over. Thanks to Mangone's lawyer, he made the compensation we should pay much less than he expected.

If you have said the truth and nothing but the truth, justice is served. You have given what is expected of you.
I have also been touched by other judges who did not allow me to speak. They were prevented from my simple strategy :-)
We are not robots we can speak with our convictions. It's up to the judges to weigh what is the truth and not. Do I sound logical?
