Pay Attention To The Minor Details - A Funny Little Story
paying attention to details in your business is important, especially if it involves numbers or facts - I know this seems obvious, but we just had a funny little occurrence of what can happen when you are not paying attention to details.
As some of you know, my children and I have a genetic illness. Because of this we deal with medical charts a lot, and my daughter just went over hers, and noticed how some of her numbers made no sense.
Somehow they have managed to get her height wrong multiple times over the last few months, ranging from making her a foot shorter, to a few inches taller than she actually. A simple mistake like that - which made us laugh - changed a lot of calculations on her chart, and therefore should have raised some serious eyebrows from someone, because they were completely inconsistent, and at no point based on her true height. There is no harm done, because in her case it does not matter, but it was incorrect, nonetheless.
- Which made me think of the how a simple change in placing a decimal point, can change a calculation, or a simple misquote, or presenting a non-vetted source can make a reader take the wrong action.
Whenever we are presenting information to others, no matter if it is to our accountant, or information we give on our website, the person receiving it counts on the fact that we paid attention to details, that we double and triple checked our sources, and that we are not simply being careless because we were in a hurry, or had something else to think about.
Just something to consider
Have a blessed day!
