Success Is Balance
I am an advocate of work-life balance and life balance overall. Needless to say, this quote is one of my favorites, SUCCESS IS BALANCE. In an age of material abundance, maintaining a healthy balance between work and all other aspects of life is a struggle. Many people have sacrificed their health and relationships for the pursuit of money. There is nothing wrong with pursuing dreams and aspirations, but we must have our priorities in order and aligned in all areas such as health, spiritual, occupation, recreation, family, and community.
Two reasons I love this quote:
1) I think Laila Ali (daughter of Muhammed Ali) hit it on the head with this one. I can see why a boxer would recognize the importance of balance. Having balance for a boxer is essential to the sport; the balance make it possible to sustain the blows and even knockdowns during the fight. Likewise, when building an online business, it feels like we are fighting ourselves or others for time to practice our sport (writing SEO content). We need BALANCE to endure and sustain success for the long haul.
2) I admire Laila Ali for what she has accomplished in the ring and outside of the ring. She is a wife, mother, community leader, and wellness advocate. She now has a TV show on HGTV where she does home interior decorating remodels for people with struggles. I think she epitomizes life balance. Laila Ali wears many hats. I think there is a misunderstanding that you can't work hard and have work-life balance. Yes you can. It's all about maximizing your time.
As you go about building your business, keep balance in mind. Don't forget about the other areas and roles in life. Continuously seek ways to be more efficient and productive so you can live a balanced life.
Thanks for reading.

Great post, Claudette! I think balance can be difficult to achieve, but is well worth striving for.
Hi Claudette,
Thanks for sharing this post. You are so right we have to have balance in our daily lives to get things done.
Hope you have a great weekend,
Donna:)
Great post and love the analogy of balance as seen from a boxer's perspective.
Laila Ali is amazing...and so was her dad. Didn't know she had her own show (we can get those down here in Ecuador), but not surprised.
Have a great weekend,

I'm glad you enjoyed reading this post. The name of Laila Ali show is Home Made Simple, and it is on OWN network and not HGTV like I stated in the post.
I made a typo.. we can NOT get those down here is what I meant. Need a very special set up to get all the shows we want to watch which we don't have yet. We would love to see her show, alas.
Maybe at some point in the future.

You are so right Claudette and when you have balance you have stupidity. Possessive attitudes are so essential to what we do and it keeps us health in mind body and soul. Enthusiasm, liking what you do, consistency they are all great attributes
Have a great weekend
always a better way
Linda
Absolutely, we need some stupidity in our lives as well; how else will we learn what we don't want. We need the sunshine and the rain. Thanks.
Hey, Claudette, great post. We not only need to work to be successful, but we also need to spend time with our families. What good is success if our family doesn't support us. Isn't that part of our "WHY?" I need to stop work some part of each day, and spend time with my son.

I have to agree wholeheartedly Claudette. I have always felt that success is not just about money or status. I do believe that success is about being the best you that you can be. That does require a balanced approach to life. What good is it if we gain the whole world but have lost our soul. Thank you for your inspiring post.

I like the philosophy of the people from Bhutan. Before the implement something new, they ask themselves make it me more happy if I implement this.

That is a great practice to implement when starting something new and even when evaluating life along the way. Sounds like a good way to declutter as well.
