How do you know when to write a blog and about what subject. Do you need to know your niche or can a blog be about life, not exactly your niche.

You should write with intent (to sell something)...A general blog about the day to day life might not take you in the right direction.

I have read some that were not pointing toward a product or sale and wondered if the content were...get to know me, trust me kinda baby steps toward a sale. Thanks Jim-Bo!

A blog post could be akin to a fishing rod and line. The keywords you use could be akin to a bit of bait on a hook. If you have a boat, that's your website.

The more fishing rods with lines and bait on the end that you have, then the more fish you're going to reel in to your boat.

You could reel in some fish with a general blog post and at every opportunity within that post you can get them to click on a link (or a button) that takes them to another blog post on your site (the one you want them to read which can make you revenues)...

More fishing rods you have, the better. You'll catch small fish, medium fish and sometimes you might get lucky and have a whopper on the end...

Can't wait until I can catch the limit!

There is no limit mate. Really. That's the best thing about this business.

That fishing boat, the rods and lines, the bait...you choose how big/how much you can handle. Basically keep making it bigger with more blog posts and it's kind of inevitable the the dollaroonies will start flowing in. It'll be hard "NOT" to have them flowing in.

Compare two boats.

1 boat has a guy with one fishing rod and a little maggot on the end as bait. he casts it out and he's sitting there days waiting for one fish. And he doesn't know if it's gonna be a whopper, a tiddler or whatnot, if anything. He might catch an old boot.

The other boat has a guy who sets his rod up, puts some nice bait on the end of the line and casts it in. Soon as he does that he starts setting up his next rod.

This fishing analogy is making me hungry for some fish...a lot of fish. Thanks my friend!

Lol, yeah I made that analogy up myself believe it or not. A lot of people like it.

I'm not the first to hear or read it? Oye Vey!

:)

You should write often, at least once or twice a week. You want to start writing on all the subjects that go along with that niche, so that when people come to your website they will find lots of helpful information on that subject. Pick any topic related to the niche, do some research and publish a post. Rinse, repeat.

If you want to make money with your blog, you should choose a niche that makes it easier like health, fitness, pets, travel, making money, home stuff (DIY, homesteading) etc.

You can also have other subjects, or even more than one. There are lots of lifestyle bloggers who may write about travel, parenting, and homesteading in one blog. As you can see, in that example the bloggers is actually writing about 3 very good money making topics.

If you have a random topic that you want to talk about, for example trains, you can just add that topic to your menu. It is probably harder to make money blogging about trains, but if the other topics in your menu are money makers, then go ahead.

You can write about any niche. If you do not know much about the topic, then you will do research to learn about it. Google the topic and see what other bloggers have to say, look for something they missed and write about it.

You can do this by opening several search result pages and looking for similarities of the subject and then differences. It is all about the research.

Hope that helps,

Your blog should be relevant to your niche. Your building trust with your viewers that you know the ins and outs of what you've chose as a niche.
If your blogging about life and it points to your niche then yes. Remember viewers will be looking for your help in your niche area and if it has nothing to do with it chances are they'll leave your site to find what their looking for.
Here's an example I have a tattoo site I'm not going to write something on how to lose belly fat that's not what they came for. It's always best to pick a niche you like or have a passion for makes it a lot easier to write blogs about.

thanks and good concert in Atlanta this past weekend...Godsmack12

Ya I've seen them like 12 times.

Hey Claude,

Kyle explains it best here: Hope you find this helpful.

Your better off having a niche you can relate to and know something about. As for when to write content, the baseline is 3 a week.
