At around the 31:40 minute mark, he says 400 words per keyword is ideal. I assume he means at least 400 words? Maybe my assumption is wrong but it doesn't make sense that the optimum length for an article is 400 words and more than that will be bad for the article's rank. It makes sense that having too few words is bad but how can having 1000 or a few thousand words be worse than 400? Does Google punish us for writing too much?

Brilliantly explained Jay. Thanks very much for a valuable video.
I don't stick to a word limit. Some of my posts are short and quick - no more than 300-400. Some are longer than 1000 words. I just go with how I'm feeling about the post. I then ensure when it is a much longer post to include lots of imagery. I don't think there is really any hard and fast rule.
