Quality feedback on content and website needed please.

Hi everyone.

Is it just me, or am I the only one who thinks that posting content for feedback is a little "pointless"? I do not mean to sound negative but i am personally finding that the feedback on content is not that helpful. It is also difficult to provide quality feedback without knowing what makes for a successful or quality article and the elements that it should contain.

I hope i am not offending anyone by raising this topic as it is only my intention to be able to improve the quality of my own writing.

What i think would be very useful is if there was an "exemplar" or marking "template" set up for specific aspects of the feedback process eg. How to give quality feedback on content; how to give quality fedback on website layout and design; how to give quality feedback on.... Just about everything lol.

Kyle or Carson are there any short term solutions for helping us to "get" quality feedback, but also how to "give" it?

Thank you. Paula.

It is harder for total strangers to be able to criticize someone else's work then it is to criticize a close friend or family member. Because you do not know how that person will take it, that is why people naturally just say great job, At a boy type responses I myself not too long ago gave a honest critique of someone else's site and they took it as a very bad thing, so now I do not critique I just think everyone should look at there own site in a different perspective by logging out of it clear there mind and take a look at the site as if this is your first time seeing it. Read it and see if it is keeping you interested in what it is telling you if not you will need to do some tweeting to keep people interested so they do not bail right away.

Hi tommy :) thank you for sharing that, i guess that is it - sometimes it is difficult to critique honestly and i think because of that we are somewhat limited in what can be said. In having said that though, i do accept that it is a learning process and the opportunity to share work is a valid one. Thank you. Paula.

Yes we can share by leaving comments on our websites if they pertain yo each other's niche.

Sometimes its great to here other perspectives, someone could say something that makes things just click "magic". I think as you develop your network you will find people that you tend to seek and rely on their opinions.

Hi and thanks :) that makes sense too... I love looking at everyone else's content and websites as it gives me so many ideas of what i could do, which is a great way of sharing as well and i totally get that. I have also recieved good feedback too, but it is more "generic" like "very interesting" or "great work" or "check yr links" etc sometimes things to do with colour etc, but nothing that is really content specific and i find myself saying the same things in return lol...

We are all in the learning process. You can get feedback here at WA or at your website, All feedback is valuable even negative. It gives you a feel of what people like about your content, what they would like to see more of or what they don't care for.

And the thing is content that expresses personal values, opinions or a unique viewpoint will be loved by some and by others not at all.

Thanks nancy :) totally agree, I just wonder if there is a better way of getting specific feedback as alot of the feedback Is very generic. If it was designed to target specific areas then the value to the writer would be far more useful. Thanks again.
