Hi everyone, I am working on my first website under "Iconic One" theme. Under the "SiteManger" and "Page", I changed the title of "Home" page to something specific reflecting t

So, you want your home to be a static page.
Go to dashboard, Reading, tick static page, save. Also, you can do like this:

Hi Dorina, thank you for reaching out and helping. I did set my home page up as Static page. I was trying to change the title of the home page from "Home" to something else, but that can not be done :(

So, you don't want your Home page to be called HOME, I don't know if google like this, but you can change the title, go to Quick Edit, change the title, put your title instead Home,Update do not change permalink, I give you the example with Privacy policy page,I've changed the title there.

Leave the page static

Yes, I don't want my Home page to be called "HOME". I changed the title under Quick Edit. In there, it was called what I wanted, but when I went back to the website, it is still called "HOME". I can change any other pages' titles successfully, but HOME. It probably can not be done. :(

Did you press UPDATE?If you did, probably it doesn't work like this!

You should go to dashboard, appearance, menus and check over there too

Yeah, I did all of that :( Probably just does not work for this theme.

Thank you. I will try this! :)

one you have set the title it can cause problems with google unless you do a redirect, this might help

Thanks for the training! But the best way it is not to change the title, and not to change the permalink.

it certainly is and I have never changed a title sometimes I will do another post and link to the one that perhaps does not have such a great title but it has good information

I'd better be careful in the future. Thank you both for your help and advice :)

You welcome!

You have to go inside your dashboard to the 'pages' tab and edit the page you want changed. :)

I did that, and it got changed there. So I saved, updated, and refreshed it. But the website itself is still showing as "Home". Could I be missing something else?

Thank you. I am now just wondering if it can be changed at all :)

The 'home' page itself takes your users to your latest content. You can change what is shown on the home page, but not the title. Sorry, I misunderstood your question.

Got it...thanks again!

Hi everyone!

I use "Iconic One" theme and have been trying to change the order of the pages on the top of the Website under the "Menu". But it won't do anything...Help!

I have the same question. I read the replies already posted here but apparently I am missing something. When I log into my website and go to Dashboard>Appearances>Menus, there is a list on the left of my pages. However, this list is greyed out and I cannot drag them anywhere. I am prompted to "create" a new menu. I tried this, saved it, and then the list of pages is no longer greyed out, but I still cannot drag anything.

Ok, I figured it out. I had to first create a menu, then add each page I wanted listed to that menu. Then there appeared a list which I could drag and drop. Then I had to check the "primary navigation" box as CindyT1008 mentioned. However, for my theme, 'Nirvana' I also had to check the box, 'top navigation.' Without this box checked, the menu disappeared entirely from the site.

Thank you for asking, it helped me too.
Best wishes your WAy!

I am glad! I see that we joined around the same time :) Best wishes to you as well!

Go to your dashboard>Appearances>menus> they are added vertically, you can pick them up and shift them up or down

Hi Loes, I did all that and saved, but it did not do anything to the appearance :(

Did you save the menu?

Yes I made sure that I did..

Thank you so much! I did not know to check the "Primary Menu" box. Once I checked, it worked now! :)

Hi,

1. Log into your website.
2. Select appearance and menus.

From here, you can drag and drop you menu order, make sure you save after re-arranging. I hope this helps!

Hi Stuartl...I am in there under "Menu Structure", I dragged the pages, and saved Menu, but it did not do anything. Do I need to check something under "Menu Setting"?

Hi Cindy,

Is the box "primary menu" checked? If not, please do so, then save. Also make sure you refresh the page, on your website, that your are viewing. Hopefully this works :).

No, the Primary Menu was not checked! Thank you for pointing that out! I just did it. How do I refresh the page? I have been saving menu, logging off and then back in to see if it has been updated...

It worked now! Thank you so much. To check "Primary Menu" made it work! :)
