Hi everyone
In trying to refine my niche further, now that I know a little more about what I am doing, I wanted to know if the name of my domain was best to match the na
One thing I always recommend is getting a .com if possible. Domains like .press really won't rank all that well unfortunately and although there are lots of cool options out there, .com, .org and .net domains are really the only ones that stand much of a chance of ranking in Google.
I have written a discussion on the topic of domain selection and I think that this will help anyone out that has any confusion about choosing a domain name: How to Choose a Proper Domain Name?
Thanks Kyle. I have spent the better part of my day changing my domain name from the .press to a .com, and am feeling much better about refining my niche even further now that I have. I new sense of direction is now in play.
Quick answer: They don't need to match. You just need effective branding.
All the best.
Regards,
Evan
Cindy did you mean transformyourlife? Perhaps ofrm was a typeo, I tried again and Google won't bring it up. :(
Hi Cindy, how are you? I clicked the url above and got nothing but many different suggestions, search engine confusion, the last thing you want. Kyle is very big on .com's because it will rank better. Also I believe his advise was to name your site the same as your url except the site name MUST be spelled correctly. I just put this up, notice the url is a .com and the site name is the same but with proper spelling. I still have to build it! lol Just wondering what the url is you have, it's hard to understand, this could be me. This is what I just did onlinebusiness-done-right.com I wanted to save you hours of work if something can be fixed now!
Best :)
Thanks William for your effort in trying to help. It is Transform Your Life. I have a dot com up my sleeve that I can use. Such a hard decision to make when I still have so much to learn.
The experts are saying Yeah, yesterday, but not so much today.
Today search algorithms are basically saying "don't try to be my friend" so anything you do to gain the favor of search engines can actually make them ignore you even more.
There is value in a url that makes sense to people, though. When a SERP is presented to a visitor and they scan the page a relevant url name can improve the odds of a click through.
Think people first, and let the search engine figure it out later.
Thanks Gary. I think I will just go with what I have for now, and see what unfolds. Always so many things to take me off task, especially when I am partial to distractions!!!! Have a great weekend.
I agree Cindy - go with what your have.
Now I'm curious, and have to go look up "hot yoga"!
Best of luck building your site!

Does anyone add their phone number when posting content on their sites and social media for additional trust? I read somewhere that this was done and created a new level of tru
Put it this way Cindy,
I'm looking at your profile picture and see that you're an attractive woman but I only signed up here for free as a spammer and I'm not interested in creating an online business.
I have another agenda altogether and I think I'll give you a ring or send you a photo of "myself".
Now, do you think it's a good idea to put your phone number on sites wherever you want to promote yourself and your business?
Hope not!!
Mark
Hahahaha thanks Mark.....I have already trash canned the idea.....so grateful to have such a great community to tell me truth when I have a hair brained scheme!!!!! Thanks again.
You are in form today......although if I remember rightly from your blogs....I think in form most days!!!!
Thanks everyone for the advice.....I think I will follow it and forget the idea.
As always, most grateful to you all. :)
Not here Cindy.
I have one site that deals with a somewhat controversial product. That product doesn't provide corporate contact information (kinda like you can't get a hold of Google), so folks are always hunting for any email or phone links they can use to contact the company.
Failing that, they'll swamp me if I open the doors & let it happen. For that reason, visitors are limited to just leaving comments (and I reply), or to sending me a message via the Contact page on the site.

Hi there Cindy. I suggest you try it but be ready to make the visit to your phone service to change the number. From someone else's experience I believe that you will be amazed at the speed of and the number of calls (many not genuine) that you will get. Mind you it will also give you some idea of how many people are viewing your site. Regards Ken
As one who gets her landline inundated with junk calls , spammers, scammers, from literally all over the world , I never give out my cell number - ever. I use my landline number when a phone # is required and then NEVER personally answer my phone. Let the answering machine do that. I do check the machine several times a day to be sure I don't miss a "real" call. Have a dedicated number for your site, maybe a 1-800 number, which could deter scam and spam calls. But might deter genuine callers, because 1-800 #s are associated with robot answer menus. Just something to think about....
Wise move. Although you could get hounded with calls.
Probably best to use a seperate phone for business. That's what i do.
Hope that helps

On my site, the 'Twitter' social media button is hidden under the 'Like' social media button. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Maybe you fixed it? I had a quick look at your sites and Twitter looks properly aligned and okay to me. What size screen is your screen? I use Firefox. ~Jude
I agree with Labman. I had to play with a couple of social plug ins till I found one I liked and worked well with site.
Choose another social plugin. Sounds like the one you have has a bug or hasn't been updated in awhile. Probably the latter. WordPress compatibility can be a big factor with plugins.

Could anyone suggest a good WordPress theme that supports multiple menus and is easy to use?
Custom Community has a header top nav, header secondary nav, posibility for full screen, left sidebar (can add custommenu), right sidebar, (can add custommenu) both sidebars, Footer (can add custom menu)
This may help Choose a New Theme If you find a website you like the look of in cyber-land then try http://whatwpthemeisthat.com/ to discover what theme they've used and also some of their plugins. ~Marion
This one has two menus. In addition. You can add as many custom menus to the sidebar as you wish.
In the past I used a previous non-responsive version and was happy with it.
No reason to think otherwise of the responsive version, though
I haven't used it since I've switched to premium themes.
It's highly customizable and has more theme options than most free themes.

what kind of menu system are you looking for? Keeping in mind that the majority of themes can be customized dramatically.
Do you have an example site you like?
