I have been really interested to know more about what the words 'slow down' mean to people and their lives. Something I am hearing which interests me greatly is 'living off the grid.'

Now my fellow WA friends, I would love a post from you about how you may be living off the grid in your little pocket of the world.

Thanking you in advance.

Technically the term 'off the grid' means disconnected from the electricity grid. But it is used these days to mean much more such as growing your own food, living in the woods, not watching TV, or even a psychological disconnection from all the fears and lies of the mass media polluted collective mind. For me, I'm still totally connected to electricity and food stores and television, but my mind spends most of it's time nowhere near this planet. :)

I was going to post a separate comment but you have written exactly what I was going to say about Living off the Grid.

Thanks :)

I was actually taken off the grid, by a car accident! I had had two circumstances before that - the road gave way under my semi and a health challenge - but I kept pushing on until the car accident when with two broken arms and almost a complete broken rib cage I was taken off the grid! (I was t-boned as the other vehicle ran a red light) These past few years I have been learning for the first time in my life how to relax, I still have a ways to go but I am certainly in a better place today then I used to be.

Life is one constant learning process till we shuffle off this mortal coil

Hi Cindy,

To me, the two words have the following meaning :

* Slow Down : To make a conscious life changing decision to scale down your activities, and get out of the rate race. To strive for peace and tranquility and doing things at your own pace.

* Off-grid Living : Ideally suited for people living on a farm or a plot of land outside the city limits. Dont rely on water and electricity provided by the relevant authorities. Make use of solar or wind generators and borehole water. A whole host of additional things, but you get the idea, right ?

That's just my own take on things.

Great thoughts, I love a different view, thank you.

I'm slowly preparing to do a different sort of living off the grid, Cindy. I'm equipping a small sailboat to take a fairly lengthy trip - about a year and a half. I've been blogging about it (very irregularly) at http://great-loop.us.

Hopefully I'll get my act together with a number of shorter trips between now and then!

awesome! My husband and I dream of a similar adventure. Best of luck!

I think my life would qualify..... 2-3 years ago I walked away from the present life I had been living and really began fresh.

It was a time of grief and sadness like I had never known. But with some considerable help from above, I was able to create a new life with many new friends, a new climate and blessings too numerous to count.

I live in a tiny rural setting but have friends in nearly 50 nations. And my "old world" has all come back to me in a greatly "repaired" manner.

From where I am now, I can't even see the grid anymore.
