Online Work At Home Scams: Its Not A Job, Its An Adventure
Scams. Telephone scams. Mail scams. Guy-at-the-mall-passing-out-samples scam. Online work at home scams. We know about ‘em and we don’t have to look too hard to find ‘em. It feels like every time you find something that seems promising, it turns out to be a scam. Or maybe it’s not a scam but you have to hand over your hard-earned money to even enter the website to find out.
Then there’s Wealthy Affiliate. Sure, you lured me in with your promises that I could take a 10 lesson course for free. Ahhh, the hook, I thought. But since I didn’t have to enter a credit card (and therefore could not POSSIBLY lose any money), I decided to take a look. And wait for the angle.
OK, so the lessons were informative. I learned what affiliate marketing is and how I could make money with it. I gained some knowledge in regard to creating content and how to attract visitors. I set up and published a website of my very own for free. But here it comes, I assured myself. Soon it will come. The Swindle.
You said that I would never have to spend a single penny if I didn’t want to. I could hang out at Wealthy Affiliate forever, using your resources and picking the brains of all the members in this online community. I was welcomed by many and followed by many. I asked questions and got answers. For free. It seemed that no one really cared if I was a “paying” member or shameless freeloader.
I was beginning to almost believe that this was the Real Deal.
Then I began to realize what the scam is here at Wealthy Affiliate. It’s the “work” part, the promise of an online “work at home” business. Why? Because it doesn’t feel like work. At all. It feels like being creative. It feels like an adventure. It feels like meeting a bunch of great people who are all about helping ME get ahead. It feels like picking my grandchildren up from school at the drop of a hat because their Dad got hung up at work. It feels like deciding to put off writing until this evening because a friend called who wants to get lunch and go shopping. It feels like...freedom.
