My first blog!

I wanted to share my initial experience here just over one week after hearing about Wealthy Affiliates for the first time. I was actually looking for Affilorama, which I had heard of and of course Kyle’s article (review of Affilorama) caught my eye. I read everything including question and answer that ensued and of course there were many. Two things stood out for me; Kyle’s painstaking attention to every single question and providing what appeared to me like unbiased answers. The second thing that struck me was the ‘customer experience’ that was wrapped around that article and Q&A. You see, I, like many people have been a sucker for many upsells that were out there and I have spent thousands of Dollars looking for that holy grail called HONESTY in internet marketing. Despite my previous mistakes, I was won over by the transparency in the article and absence of ramming products down my now completely shrunken throat! What a relief.

By the time I read the last question and answer on Affilorama review and 500+ on WA review, I didn’t need persuasion to be here. I knew I have found what I was looking for – to be guided through the noisy and sometimes thorny path of internet marketing.

Why did I decide to go Premium?

Rich content, training and the community. Initially I was overwhelmed and I didn’t understand the idea of ‘following’ or liking people’s comments. I kind of forgot momentarily that I am among humans and need to interact even if briefly. You see, I am ‘allergic’ to FaceBook. I know that it has wealth of benefits if used properly. For many years I resisted signing up and when I eventually did, I was initially sucked in by the noise and found myself wasting precious time reading and ‘liking’ rubbish. The reality dawned on me one day when I realised how unproductive I had become and I made a quick exit and rarely visit FB. I will return but stay on purpose. In the meantime, I have to be and stay grounded. Here in the community, people are genuinely keen to help and of course I know that I have to stay focused and limit the 'socialising.'

In the meantime, I am getting on step by step with my training. One of the key things I have learned and use extensively, is looking up questions/topics that might have been dealt with or asked in the past and I found this incredibly helpful in answering my questions. I will stay in the background and focus on my training and required actions in the first couple of weeks to ensure I start as I intent to carry on and also learn from more experienced users. I will occasionally say ‘Hello’ but I am determined to succeed with this opportunity. My time will come when I feel confident enough to start helping or contributing to topics I currently consider technical.

Anything I would like to see improved?

Nothing in particular at the moment except perhaps to let newbies know that transferring hosting to WA may take at least 24 hours. It might have been mentioned but I didn’t catch it. Yesterday morning, I decided on the name I wanted for my niche, went ahead to Namecheap and purchased a Domain name, pointed it to WA and got notification that it may take 72 hours to get fully transferred to desired destination. I nearly felt deflated and frustrated but remembered that setting up a website is only the beginning and so I decided to spend some time researching my content. Still at it…

I know I will have lots of questions when I start building the website given my lack of technical ability at the moment but until then, I am enjoying this journey. I am grateful to the community for the offers of help and I intend to call on these in time.

Thank you for stopping by and reading my blog :-)

Good for you, getting started on your website already. I'm afraid the several hours - several days (each time) that it takes to register a domain name and transfer hosting seems to be universal with all the various companies that register and host. It's not specific to WA. I don't recall if that is mentioned in the WA training. We expect an instant world on the internet, but sometimes it's not that instant.

Great post Chuka.

I liked this blog and I know what you mean about Facebook and wasting time "liking" rubbish. I adore my "personal friends" on FB, but they do post so much rubbish.

Welcome! Never be afraid to ask questions, that's why this community is so great!

Hello! Welcome to Premium! You're right, there's a lot of good information here and wonderful resources here in the community. I am finding it to be a lot of work and as I am going through the lessons I am thinking I need a plan in place to not only become familiar with managing my site but also how to stay innovative so that it is engaging. This is a new outlet for me and I'm finding it quite rewarding as it matures.

Good luck to you and I hope you are successful in your journey here:)
