No, I'm not asking to buy your blog. I'm just curious, if someone offered you "X" amount of money would you sell your blog right now?

Hi, Chuck I know where you come from. One guy in my country had property site, 1 400 square meters. Property developers approached him with a offer to buy. Purchase price was $115 000. It was a lot of money those years
Today the property and others were developed. Shopping Mall (Mall OF AFRICA) has been recently erected, at a cost of R5 BILLION ($ 249 MILLION)

Anyone who wants to buy my blog, I don't have problem. If he/she purchase it. Every profit he/she generates with the content must pay me 5% lifetime royalties

Maybe no since it might be my passive income stream for a very long time, and the total sum of $$$ will be higher than the over.

And, people will not use the money wisely when you suddenly get a big amount of money just like people that won the lottery, right?

Matt

Some people would be very smart with a lump sum payment and pay off debt or invest it. Others would probably waste it. Each person is different.

A sale of anything is designed to leverage one's financial situation. So selling anything at this point in time depends upon individual situations. If we are financially loaded, why sell anything not worth all that much? But if we are on 'dire straits'...that is a different story.

If selling anything means I will be able to eat the next few days, sure. We definitely cannot eat our blogs and websites but we can eat food from our sales.

Just an opinion.

We here in the U.S. are still the most stocked nation in terms of food at this time. The most loaded pantries, the most packed refs and freezers in the world. Hoarding is insane and senseless.

Joe

It depends on the price.

Would that be for one blog or every blog post I write?

The entire blog.

Well, Maybe my platform blogs but not anything from my websites. Put my heart and soul into both of them and the topics hit close to home, so no on that front.

How often do you update old posts on your blog?

I personally try to edit/update one old blog post per day. I normally add a few hundred words of content, some new photos,

I usually do not until at least a year old or something has changed on what the post was about. New content is always needed so until they are real old no reason to I figure. Some may think differently, yet it depends on how much content and how many sites possibly.

Yes, it's different for everyone.

Occasionally

Awesome.

Hi Chuck. Do you submit to google once you have updated them?

Good question! Do you have to submit changes to Google? How do you do that?

You would go onto google search console, add the URL you want to submit and ask it to resubmit.

I don't resubmit, since they are already part of my sitemap. I do build links to them and share them on social media and different websites though.

Thanks for the info. I had not thought about reposting. Actually i didnt know i could thank you for the info.

It's good to update old posts.

I wrote two separate blog posts this morning, right here in the back office. I spent about an hour. When I go to hit publish, it says we can't publish it because it is duplicat

This literally JUST happened to me, too!

I waited about 30 seconds, pressed publish again and it went through. It's sure odd, though.

It said that it was duplicate and found on another website 🤔

If it just came from my brain how could it be on another website?

It's not the first time it happens either. First time with a blog but it has happened to me in site comments.

Seems like a weird glitch!

Melissa

Hi Chuck, yes. I wrote my last WA blog before going to work one morning and tried to publish it. A message with red writing came up telling me the content was copied and not original. Baloney I thought! Not only was the photo MY photo but the writing and the content was definitely mine.
Baloney I thought again and off I trotted to work. 8 hours later I came home from work, hit publish on my WA Blog draft and it published immediately. The moral of this story is....

If at first you don't succeed
Keep on sucking until you do suck seed.

Louise ;)

Hi Chuck, seems the general consensus is to either wait a bit, save it as a draft to be published later, or add a few more sentences, alter it in some way. Either way you wrote it, so it can't be duplicate, and you need to keep trying. If after several attempts, it still comes up duplicate content, I would check with site support.

Best wishes,
Michael

Hi Chuck,

I think the problem relates to internet connections. I say this as I am based in Chile and on my balcony in the early morning I sometimes work so as not to disturb my partner in bed - the office is close by and she can hear me typing!

On the balcony the internet is usually fine but there are moments when it cuts out. I have learnt not to do blogs or site comments there as it can be very annoying to ge the message you are experiencing today after doing more than the minimum of 150 words (although most do not!).

I think it might be the internet connection but I am happy to be corrected otherwise. If its a WA gremlin, I would like to know too.

Chin up and have a great day.

Best Regards,

Trevor

I get this often when I respond to Site Comments. I am flummoxed as my responses are always detailed. There is no way I could have unwittingly duplicated what someone else wrote. In fact when I checked the published comments they were all different.

Glad to hear this could be a result of a glitch in the system. Instead of waiting, I just changed or added a few things extra and that seemed to have been accepted as original. Strange!

This has never happened to me in writing blog posts though. When you think about it if it could happen in one place it could also happen in others.

Cheers.

Edwin

How many photos do you typically use in a post?

I've found that adding 1 photo for every 300 words works out pretty well for me. I'd love to know what you think and do. <

That sounds like potentially a good guideline - and I may have to model that. So far though I use one or two max - and in many posts none at all (mainly because I am in a hurry to get it published and on to the next article).

I am sure I do not use enough, and more would probably be better.

Best regard,

L.D. Sewell

I use one featured image and then image links for the products I am reviewing.

I know I am in the minority here but I want to read a post with information not a bunch of random images. I also don't want to slow down load speed by adding unneeded images.

I like your way of thinking.

I think that's ok. People don't like to read too much these days. they want good and quick info, getting to the point sort of thing. So when we put a photo (that is associated with the content) in between paragraphs that's what makes the content more interesting. Good content (short or long) + good photo/s goes hand in hand

I agree. Kyle doesn't really encourage short posts, but he does suggest breaking content up in small blocks to make reading easier. Images, charts, etc. are a good way to break content into chunks.

I've never set out to relate the picture count to word count so I didn't know the answer off hand. I checked my last website post and I discovered I had 1 picture for every 250 words. I will check other posts both on my website and WA to get an average count.

Your suggestion of 1 in 300 sounds reasonable.

Thanks for asking.

Edwin

Great job.

Do you have a YouTube channel for your website? Yes or no? Why or why not?

From all the responses below on this post's question about youtube, it is interesting to see that either we have a youtube channel or thinking about starting one.

My feedback to the team: Yes, I will be doing videos hopefully soon. Travel, tourism and accommodation seems to be a good topic.

Joe

Hi Chuck,

Yes, I have one for my personal website. I do videos each week, and sometimes it's easier for my readers to watch a video than read an entire blog post.

I started not too long ago, so a lot to learn and improve over time.

All the best,

-Eric

You got this.

Have one for motivational videos
Not one for my website
TIM

No, not yet. But plan to.

No not yet.
