Theme Updates. anyone and advice on this?
This morning I had some updates become available on my Wordpress and one of them was the theme?
Has anyone else had the same?
I was just worried if i go ahead with it if it will mess something up? Here is the screenshot with the details and it mentions using a Child Theme for modifications..
Advice anyone?
Thanks
Chris

Thanks for all your help everyone who got back to me. Thanks also to Marion and the training she offers for his issue... I followed all the steps and made a backup to be sure... then updated the theme... luckily there were no issues!
Thanks
Chris
I always update as soon as an update becomes available. WordPress updates often include security patches. If you are using a free theme that is not being maintained, an update could break your site. I never use a free theme that has not been maintained in the last 6 months.
A couple of themes I was using got broken by the WordPress 4.4 update. But the good news is that I found better themes.
Marion Black warned about this the other day in a blog: Don't Update WordPress Yet Hope this helps :)
Some people use the Editor to add HTML code to their theme's CSS or other core files. When the theme is updated then those modifications are overwritten.
If you haven't messed with the code then you don't need to worry.
Every time there's a WordPress update a lot of themes and plugins have to be updated too. So it's a good idea to delete any themes and plugins you're not going to be using.
Chris,
Just read your question. Marion Black sent a blog out concerning Wordpress update, and mentioned don't click update until you back it up. Check out her blog.
The theme should be ok Chris as long as you havent made alterations to the editor, but check out this recent blog from Marion Black regarding WP update Don't Update WordPress Yet Hope it helps
Should be no problem as Twenty Fourteen is an official WordPress theme.
But if you've tinkered with any of the theme files, then updating the theme will set you back to the default theme. That's why it suggests using a child theme for any modifications. Then you wouldn't lose those changes.
Thanks buddy ... when you say theme files.. what is that specific to? I do not think I have but want to be sure before I hit the button lol

It'll be an issue on my second site, when I finally get to it!
Although I think I'm already using a child theme there......
